Coiled Tubing
From World War 2 to present day
Coiled tubing can be wound
round giant reels
Coiled tubing can be transported
around the globe
Use:
Coiled tubing (sometimes called flexible piping) is metal piping used in the oil and gas
industry. Although it is made of metal it is flexible enough to be wound around a giant reel,
like a cotton reel. This makes it easier to use and easier to transport around the world.
When it is unwound from its reel the coiled tubing can be inserted into a drilled well. The
organisation ICoTA covers its’ history and much more.
