Comment [a5]: Subject Line
This letter is arranged in modified block format. In this letter format the date and
closing lines (complimentary close, name of the writer, and the writer’s title) begin at
or near horizontal cneter. In block format all letter parts begin at the left margin.
Mixed punctuation (a colon after the salutation and a comma after the complimentary
close) is used in this example. Open punctuation (no mark after the salutation or
complimentary close) may be used with the modified black format if you prefer.
The first line of each paragraph may be blocked as hown here or indented one-half inch.
If paragraphs are indented, the optional subject line may be indented or centered. If
paragraphs are blocked at the left margin, the subject line is blocked, too.
Sincerely yours,
Derek Alan
Manager
