2nd July 2015 Dear Parents/Carers, Mrs Price’s Maternity Leave Mrs Price is taking her maternity leave from September 2015 until end of February 2016. She hopes to be in school for the start of the September term, to welcome back students and induct new staff. She will then be taking maternity leave and will resume work, full time, as Headteacher, straight after the February half-term. As was previously communicated, Mrs Helen Mackinlay, the current Associate Deputy Headteacher, will take over as Executive Headteacher of King’s School for this period. With the approval of King’s Governors, I have also appointed a new member of the RET advisory team, Mr Anthony Easton, as King’s Acting Headteacher from September 2015 until 22nd February 2016. Mr Easton is currently the Deputy Headteacher at Varndean School in Brighton; and has broad and successful experience as a senior manager in secondary schools. He is very much focussed on student happiness and high academic standards; and during the selection process delivered an exemplary English lesson; so in the light of King’s Ofsted report we believe he will be an excellent fit for the school. When Mrs Price returns to work Mr Easton will return to the RET advisory team full time and Mrs Mackinlay will become the school’s RET Lead Adviser. Mrs Price will work closely with Mr Easton and Mrs Mackinlay to ensure smooth transitions in September and in February. We are holding an Information Evening for all parents on Monday 13th July, from 6:00-7:30pm, in the school hall. The evening will provide an opportunity for us to update you, in person, on developments with our permanent site and answer any questions you may have at this stage. We will also be able to answer any questions you might have about leadership arrangements from September 2015 to February 2016 whilst Mrs Price is on maternity leave. We look forward to seeing you there. Yours sincerely, Mrs K Lynch RET CEO
