Campus Activity Board—S1 Event Report CU Haunted House—October 31st, 2012 William Johnson/Residence Life Programs NOTE: This form should be completed within two (2) business days of activity. Event Description A Haunted House set up inside the Russell House triple lounge. It featured the following: A ‘scare’ room—which featured multiple actors, music, horror displays, lights, decorations and other elements to scare guests as they walked through; A room with a variety of stations, including: scenario station; photobooth; ‘guess how many’ pot with black and orange m&ms; A room showing a horror film with candy, food and drinks for guests; This activity was done in partnership with Residence Life staff including residence program assistants and residence fellows. Did the Event fulfill its purpose and goals? Absolutely. The event was meant to provide on- and off-campus with a fun, timely activity for Halloween. We surpassed our goal 200+ guests with ease. Successes/Highlights 491 students attended the Haunted House; Many students watch the movie in third room while joying food and drinks; Campus Safety officers stopped by with candy—many students commented that they were very pleased with their presence at the event; Many students showed up dressed in their costume (Halloween night), and there were prizes award for various costume contest categories; We raised $121 for the CUSA Food Centre, and collective cans for Food Bank; Challenges (Unforeseen problems, issues, etc.) Campus Activity Board—S1 Event Report Many volunteers backed out nearing the event unfortunately; The line-up was extremely long for the entire evening, and this blocked the entrance to Russell House for most the night; Recommendations Get commitments from more individuals to volunteer to make absolute sure that there is enough for the event the night of; Hold the event in another location so that we can fit more individuals inside, and so that the line is not blocking any doorways or exits; More food and drinks (in anticipation of large attendance numbers); Invite Campus Safety officers back again; Expected Attendance: 200 Actual Attendance: 491 Do you recommend that this event be held again? Yes or No (circle) Why? Specifically, the high attendance numbers, and the very reasonable amount of money spent on the event.
