NAME ______________________ROCK CYCLE PROJECT *Parental help requested for importing images.* Rocks are always being added and removed from the surface of the earth. The rock cycle begins with the formation of igneous rocks. They erode into sedimentary rocks and then change into metamorphic rocks. Next, they melt back to magma and the cycle repeats itself. For this project, you will create a 2-panel CD insert. To begin, you need to choose a type of rock: igneous, sedimentary, or metamorphic. All the information on your CD insert will be about this type of rock. 1. Design the cover of a CD case. (#1 right side of template) This includes: - The name of a band. It must have a rock term. (See rock cycle word bank.) For example: One Deposition - The title of the CD For example: Stonehenge - A picture that goes with the title of the CD 2A. Inside insert of CD case - left side (# 2 left side of template) A drawing of the rock cycle - This must be labeled and spelled correctly OR Copy and paste an image from the Internet. (I will show you how to do this.) 2B. Inside insert of CD case – right side (#2 right side of template) - A list of songs - There must be 8 songs. - They must be numbered and include terms from the rock cycle word bank. - For example: Another Day Wearing Away - The names of the band members & the instruments they play will appear below the list of songs. - Three of the names must be from each group of rocks and the rest from rock terms. Vocals: Peter Pumice (Igneous rock) Bass Guitar: Flint Rivers (Sedimentary rock) Lead Guitar: Slate Sanders (Metamorphic rock) Drums: E. Rosion (a rock term) ( You can have as many band members and instruments as you like). 3. Back insert of CD case- (#1 left side of template) You must include a tour schedule that follows the entire rock cycle. You must begin the cycle with the type of rock you selected and end the cycle with the same type of rock. For example: - If you choose igneous rocks, then you will have dates for The Igneous Rock Tour. You will start where igneous rocks form, how they are broken down, and how they become igneous rocks again. - If you choose sedimentary rocks, then you will have dates for The Sedimentary Rock Tour. You will start where sedimentary rocks form, how they are changed, and how they become sedimentary rocks again. - If you choose metamorphic rocks, then you will have dates for The Metamorphic Rock Tour. You will start where metamorphic rocks form, how they are changed, and how they become metamorphic rocks again.
