Artist, crafter and creative
practitioner, Vikki Harold will be
leading this set of unique workshops
where you will produce something
stunning using paint and textile
techniques that will explore your
personal approach to making and be a
lovely memory.
Week 1 - Textile Wall Art, 26th May
With an abundance of fabric, fibres
and textiles at your disposal, you can
bind, stick and sew these together,
finally embellishing to create a unique
wall hanging. The hours spent within
the cosy group might challenge ideas
of what artwork is to you and what
you enjoy from art. This positive space
encourages trial and error and a
playful approach to create something
that’s one of a kind and representative
of you.
Week 2 - Textured Sensory
Painting, 2nd June
You will explore paint, colour and
texture within this workshop, utilising
the natural materials of The Green
Backyard. You will experiment with
paint mixtures and alternative
methods of application. Be prepared
to get covered in paint and relax
whilst exploring different processes.
Week 3 - Memory Books, 9th June
Over the session you’ll be exploring
memories, emotions, and tools for
happiness. From time to time we all need
reminding of the good times in our lives.
This workshop will provide materials and
the base to create a ‘’Memory Book’’ this can be used to store and collect
objects, mementos and recollections
from positive points in your life, providing
something solid to turn to when things
might not feel so good. Expect colour,
paint, laughter and artwork, just for you.
The collective aim of these courses will be to
explore different textures and methods of
application to achieve a piece or series of pieces
that represent you - the participants. There is no
‘’beginner’’ or ‘’accomplished’’ artists levels for
these workshops, the artwork created will be
purely personal and self exploratory. With a
relaxed approach, each member can go at their
own pace to begin a project or just explore
techniques, finishing work at a later stage. If you
work with a group who have learning difficulties
then these are the workshops for you and that
group. The three workshops can be attended
singularly but all three would feed in to each
other nicely.

The Poet’s Calendar
Would you like to learn more about how to
write or fine tune your poetry, and then see
it displayed in the calmness of the GBY?
This is the start of a set of seasonal
poetry workshops that will ask the
participants to respond to the GBY in the
Summer, Autumn, Winter and Spring.
With former poet laureate for
Peterborough Keely Mills the group will
be taken through some exciting and
inspiring writing exercises that will help
to bring out your best words. Keely will
provide editing support too so that
the work created can then be
displayed around the GBY for the
forthcoming months on a new
poetry trail.
The four workshops can be
attended singularly but all

Improvisation for Beginners

the techniques that theatrical
improvisers have developed for creating
spontaneous and satisfying stories with
absolutely no prior preparation.
Improvisers are able to walk on stage
and instantly establish characters,
dialogue, relationships and plot, to
create engaging scenes and stories.
This workshop will share some of
the improvisation games that
improvisers play in order to practice
their storytelling skills. On top of all of
that, be prepared to laugh and have
lots of fun!
