Turkish Language Course Language of Instruction and language requirements: English, Turkish; B2 English Term Time: September - beginning of February Particularities: Language Requirements: good command of English, at least B2 level; Online English test in advance Recognition: Please see handout "course recognition", online: http://www.uni-giessen.de/cms/AngRecognition Accommodation: PRIVATE: There are several types of accommodation: 1) Proprietary / private student dorms which cost about 250-300-350 euros, (bills included). Generally they provide breakfast and dinner. The laundry system is similar to the ones in Giessen dorms. The regulations about entrance hours are different and strict and somehow strange when compared to Germany. One will have some responsibilities like letting the administration know if one is staying out for the night or going back late to dorm at night. 2) Apartments (preferred by both Erasmus students and the students in Izmir). Monthly cost of rent ranges from 600 Turkish Liras to 750 Turkish Liras which correspond to 250 euros – 350 euros. The bills are not included. 3) Shared flat for 120-150 euros including water, power and internet. DORMS: Application forms for dormitories are sent upon request. 2 Funding: TUITION: ERASMUS scholarship > no tuition fees OTHER COSTS: Visa + Residence Permit (to apply for in Izmir one month within arrival): about 100 euros Accommodation: 150-300 euros Food: 150 euros Health incurance: 80 cents per day, 160 days = 128 euros (TKK) Public Transport: 0-50 euros Hobbies and Leisure Time:100-200 euros Books: 50 euros/semester Further Information: ARRIVAL: one week before the semester starts. Orientation programme during the first week of the semester. TURKISH LANGUAGE COURSE: every Friday during the semester for free, 3 ECTS credits.
