Spectator Bike Regulations
Safety is our primary concern! The Kiawah Island Marathon Bike Rules and Regulations have been established for your safety
and the safety of others! If you bike anywhere on the course, it is your responsibility to know and follow all Kiawah Island
Marathon bicycle rules and regulations.
• Spectators, bikers and strollers must not in any way impede any registered participant or the flow of traffic on the roads!
• No pacing a runner.
• All bikers must follow the directions of the course monitors, volunteers, Kiawah Island security and the police.
• Helmets are suggested and complimentary with all Resort bike rentals.
• Ride on the right side of the road, with the flow of traffic.
• Ride single file. Multiple bikers must fall in line, no biking side-by-side in groups.
• No circling a runner.
• Keep with the flow of bike traffic.
• Give the right of way to all runners and pedestrians.
• STOP before riding out into traffic from a driveway, sidewalk, bike path or parking lot.
• Obey all stop signs.
• Look back and yield to traffic coming from behind before turning left at intersections.
• Use proper hand signals to indicate turns.
• Bikers on the course may only have intermittent contact with the runner.
• When riding in the street, obey all traffic signals and laws.
• Anticipate your mistakes and those of others!
Spectator and runner strollers are not permitted on the race course.
Bicycles are NOT ALLOWED on the "Allee of Oaks" stretch of the course. Bikers will be detoured to Flyway Drive. Please abide by course
signs for bicycle routing. Bikers failing to follow safety guidelines will be asked to return to race venue.
