Adding Images to the Destiny Homepage Destiny does not provide a space to ‘upload’ images or graphics to include on your Destiny homepage, but you can use images or graphics that are available elsewhere on the web. This guide will step you through the process of using the Carroll County Content Management System, or CMS, to store images or graphics, and then explain how to ‘link’ to those images or graphics using Destiny . Before you plan to use an image, be sure it is ‘optimized’ for the web. This means that the file size of the image is no greater than about 500k. If it is much larger than that (600k and greater), then you will want to prepare the image for the web. This can be done quite easily by using a program on your computer called “Microsoft Office Picture Manager”. Find it in Start / Programs / Microsoft Office / Microsoft Office Tools /. Once you have some images or graphics on your computer, go to the CMS and login. (If you do not have an account, place a Helpdesk call and ask for one and either Tim or Paula will be in touch to set you up with one.) Click on a content page and follow the directions in the screenshots that follow. If you have rights to edit the homepage, you will see an Edit Page icon. You will need to add the text in yellow to your code, directing Destiny to look for the image on the carrollk12.org domain. Once you Save and Close, you should view the image as well as any formatted text on your Destiny homepage. If you have a red X where the image should be, be sure your path name is correct.
