The Suffolk Resolves House, headquarters of the Milton Historical Society, was the home of Daniel Vose, an early entrepreneur and prominent citizen of Milton. He had varied business interests including a store, tavern, warehouses, mills and ships. The house was built between 1760 and 1780 in Milton Lower Mills near the Neponset River and was moved to upper Canton Avenue in 1950 when it was faced with demolition and restored to the way it would have looked in the late 18th and 19th centuries. The Suffolk Resolves, the precursor of the Declaration of Independence, was written during 3 meetings in taverns in Stoughton, Canton and finally at the Vose tavern in Milton. It was from here that Paul Revere carried the Resolves to the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia.
