USER GUIDE FOR MORE INFORMATION: [email protected] ICEdot is an emergency identification and notification system. The last time you crashed you got up fine. Or maybe you didn’t but your friend was there to help you out. What would happen if you were alone and knocked unconscious? How long would it take before someone started worrying? How would they know where to start THE ICEDOT BAND + THE 3 1 KEY BENEFITS 2 3 looking for you? ICE stands for In Case of Emergency and is well known all over the world. ICEdot is an emergency identification and notification service that helps you adventure responsibly and offers peace of mind to you and your loved ones. HELMET STICKERS Gives access to your emergency profile and can be updated online at any time. Works with the ICEdot app, providing easy tracking via SMS for authorized contacts. Silicone material makes for a comfortable, hygienic, and durable fit. Designed for Athletes and Adventurers: The ICEdot system works with a unique PIN code that can identify you, provide important medical information, and notify your contacts in an emergency – all via SMS text message. In an emergency, first responders locate the 8-digit PIN code on the Band or on the helmet sticker. When this code is SMS text messaged to ICEdot, the member’s emergency profile is immediately available. First responders can also access additional information such as medications, allergies, and notify emergency contacts. If a member has the ICEdot app running, family members and other authorized contacts can easily track the member’s latest route and position via a simple SMS text. There is also a manual emergency button which can be used to alert emergency contacts of the member’s GPS position. With a PIN-based system customers no longer need to wait weeks to have an ID plate engraved. The Band is purchased in-store and can be activated online, giving the user immediate protection. The online emergency profile also allows unlimited, real-time updates to health information and emergency contacts - without having to purchase a new product. Made from high quality silicone, the Band is designed specifically for those with active lifestyles. The Band comes in three sizes, Large, Small and Child. FOR MORE INFORMATION: [email protected] THE ICEDOT CRASH SENSOR THE 3 1 KEY BENEFITS 2 3 Detects and reports forces consistent with head trauma. Notifies emergency contacts if you are not responsive to the alarm. Mounts on any helmet and is interchangeable between helmets. Detects critical impacts and notifies emergency contacts. ICEdot is taking personal safety for action sports to a new level with the ICEdot Crash Sensor. The Crash Sensor will mount onto any helmet. When paired with the ICEdot app on a smart phone, the system is able to detect motion, changes in forces and impacts. In the event of critical forces, the device triggers the app over low-energy Bluetooth to sound an alarm and initiate an emergency countdown. Unless the countdown clock is stopped, the app will then notify your emergency contacts and send GPS coordinates of the incident so that appropriate follow up actions can be taken. The member can now also allow contacts to check-in on his/ her position via SMS. The route and last position is shown providing helpful information in case a member has entered an area without data connection. The Crash Sensor app is available for iPhone 4S or later and select Android devices running Jelly Bean 4.3 or later. A current list of supported phones is available at ICEdot.org/faqs. Cycling, skiing, back country travel, team sports, and motor sports all involve significant risks and we know those risks aren’t going to stop you, heck, they don’t stop us. We’re just here to help you Adventure Responsibly. FOR MORE INFORMATION: [email protected] CRASH SENSOR INTRODUCTION WELCOME TO ICEDOT! FOR MORE INFORMATION: [email protected] GETTING STARTED ICEDOT PROFILE CREATION To effectively use your Crash Sensor, you will need a current ICEdot profile. The first year is included with the purchase of a Crash Sensor. For additional years a small yearly subscription fee applies. All ICEdot products work with your ICEdot profile – this is where you establish the emergency contacts you wish to be notified if your sensor triggers an incident. Once you have established an ICEdot profile, each additional ICEdot product you purchase will add an additional year to your service. In Case Of Emergency, ICEdot has the ability to share predesignated health and geolocation information over SMS/text. ICEdot stickers and bands allow first responders to retrieve emergency information stored in an ICEdot profile. First responders send an SMS text message containing the PIN found on the ICEdot product to the number specified and an immediate response message is returned containing information on the individual and his or her emergency contacts. IMPORTANT: YOU NEED TO RETRIEVE INFORMED CONSENT FROM YOUR EMERGENCY CONTACTS BEFORE ADDING THEIR DATA LIKE A PHONE NUMBER OR AN EMAIL ADDRESS TO YOUR EMERGENCY MESSAGE. YOU WILL ALSO BE RESPONSIBLE TO CORRECT THOSE DATA AND TO DELETE IT WHEN THE OWNER OF THE DATA DESIRES. To activate your ICEdot profile, locate the stickers containing an 8-digit PIN in your Crash Sensor package. Then visit http://icedot.org/activate, enter the PIN, a valid e-mail address and establish a password. You will then follow the on-screen instructions to complete creating your profile. A profile is secure and any access to your data can be seen in your account under “profile activity.” FOR MORE INFORMATION: [email protected] You may choose to add additional profiles for other family members. For each additional profile a small subscription fee applies per person per year. Multiple profiles may share a Crash Sensor and each additional profile will receive their own sticker packs. Once you have created your profile, try testing it. Send an SMS/text message with the PIN found on your sticker to +1.918.373.9989 (US) or to +41.79.373.9929 (EU). Then, place one of the stickers on your helmet. We also recommend that you put a round sticker on the back of your Crash Sensor or another on a commonly carried item i.e., mobile phone, wallet, etc. ICEDOT APP Visit the Apple store on your iPhone 4s (or later) device or the Play Store on your Android device (running Android 4.3 or higher) and download the app named “ICEdot”. Please note: The “ICEdot Medic” is not the right app. When downloading, please allow location services which enables capturing of GPS coordinates. If you missed to do so, you should turn this on in Settings/Privacy/Location Services on your iPhone. Once downloaded, please sign in to your ICEdot account and select the appropriate profile. EXAMPLE: Profile Screen You will then be prompted to set up your sensor. Make sure you have charged your Crash Sensor for at least 4 hours. There will be no lights or buzzing on the sensor--all battery status is reported through the app. When you click “Select ICEdot” the app will begin scanning for your sensor. Once a device appears in the menu, select it. If you have troubles connecting to your sensor, please make sure you have: 1. Charged your Crash Sensor – 4 hours via the computer’s USB is recommended. 2. Your Bluetooth turned on. This is done in the “Settings” on your phone. 3. An iPhone 4s or 5 running the latest iOS. You can check if you have the latest iOS in your settings and it will tell you if there is a newer version. 4. Downloaded the right ICEdot app from the Apple store. The “ICEdot Medic” app is not applicable to the Crash Sensor. FOR MORE INFORMATION: [email protected] 5. Given the Crash Sensor a good shake. 6. If the sensor has been charged for a longer period or experienced a power surge, the protective circuitry may have shut down functions preventing it from appearing as available to avoid overheating. Let it sit overnight and it should return to normal function. 7. If the above has not resolved your problems you can reset your sensor by plugging it in for 10-20 seconds, unplug it and retry the connection process. Once your Crash Sensor is selected, you will be able to name it and mark it as your favorite. This allows your phone and sensor to auto-connect when the sensor is awake. By simply shaking the sensor, or your helmet if it is mounted, the app will auto-connect and you will not have to scan for sensors before each use. EXAMPLE: Sensor Settings When the Crash Sensor is connected to your app, select “Go.” The app will then show “actively monitoring” meaning the app is ready to receive an impact notification from the sensor. If an impact is detected, the app will sound an alarm and begin a countdown. You can disable the countdown by swiping the “disable slider.” EXAMPLE: Countdown & Slider If you do not disable the countdown, the app will pull your GPS coordinates and connect to the ICEdot server which sends out notifications to your emergency contacts in the manner you have specified, SMS/text or email, including your GPS coordinates. It is possible your phone may be unable to find your GPS coordinates. In this case, an emergency notification will be sent, but it will not include the GPS data. It is necessary that your smartphone can establish a data connection, therefore you have to enable data roaming when you are using the Crash Sensor outside of your country. IMPORTANT: THE ICEDOT CRASH SENSOR AND APP RELY ON A NUMBER OF THIRD PARTIES TO TRACK AND DELIVER YOUR EMERGENCY NOTIFICATIONS INCLUDING CELLULAR SIGNAL AND YOUR DEVICE. FOR MORE INFORMATION: [email protected] CONFIGURATION SETTINGS The ICEdot app has a number of settings you can customize including the Notification Delay. Notification Delay is how long the countdown clock will run prior to reporting an incident and notifying your emergency contacts. The default is 45 seconds, but this can be adjusted up to 2 minutes. EXAMPLE: Settings ICEdot Account will take you to your login page at ICEdot. org on your mobile browser to adjust any of your account settings or to update your profile. Locate Me shows your current GPS coordinates. Track Me enables you to be tracked by your emergency contacts while running the app. Turning this on will allow those you specify to track your location via SMS using your ICEdot PIN. To configure who can track you, you must login to your ICEdot Account and select “anyone with my PIN” or “emergency contacts only” under your Sharing Settings within your Profile. With this feature enabled, someone can check your current location by sending “Track” followed by your PIN number to +1.918.373.9989 or to +41.79.373.9929 and they will receive a reply text with your current location or last known location in case data coverage has been lost.
