Call for Nominations
AWARD CATEGORIES AND CRITERIA
Planning Project – Urban: In recognition of an outstanding planning project for a jurisdiction with a
large population base, which project promotes solid planning principles and practices that lead to results.

Criteria – Urban awards shall be for cities with populations over 4,000 and counties with
populations over 25,000. The nominated project must be completed and implemented, or include
an implementation schedule along with documentation of financial commitment, citizen
involvement and community support for the project. The nominee must be a full member of
WYOPASS.
Planning Project – Rural: In recognition of an outstanding planning project for a jurisdiction with a small
population base, which project promotes solid planning principles and practices that lead to results.

Criteria – Rural awards are designated for cities and towns with populations under 4,000 and
counties with population under 25,000. The nominated plan must be completed and implemented.
The project must show citizen involvement and community support. The nominee must be a full
member of WYOPASS.
Planner of the Year: In recognition of significant contributions pertaining to planning in Wyoming.

Criteria – The nominee must be a consultant or a professional planner serving a governmental
jurisdiction. The nominee will be judged on examples of work related projects, activities,
achievements, community involvement, accomplishments, and demonstrated commitment to the
planning profession.
Planner of the Year – New Professional: In recognition of outstanding work by a planner who is new to
the profession.

Criteria – The nominee should be someone who has recently entered the planning profession. The
nominee will be judged on attitude, ability to work with the public and staff, recent
accomplishments and any other relevant assets.
Planning and Zoning Commission – Group or Individual: In recognition of dedicated service on behalf
of planning in Wyoming’s communities and counties.

Criteria – Nominees are to be an appointed board or commission, such as a town, city or county
planning and zoning commission or board of adjustment; or, a person serving on an appointed
commission or board, which board, commission, or person demonstrates a proven commitment to
sound planning principles and support for local planning efforts.
