MSFA Course Descriptions Youth Classes Saturday Youth Art Class Saturday 4:00pm­6:00pm Sean Boylan and Patricia Goedeke Elementary School students. Study the foundation principles of drawing, painting and design in this lively Saturday class! Home School Group Monday 1pm­3pm Trevor Twist For home school students! Learn the foundations of drawing, painting and design. Advanced or repeat students will work on more intense projects as they progress. Young Adult Drawing Monday 4:00pm­6:00pm Trevor Twist For both Middle and High School students. Study master artists and illustrators to learn the foundations of the art form. Various techniques and materials will be covered. A great class to learn technical skills and begin a portfolio of work. Sunday Painters Sunday 2:00pm­4:00pm Mary Veiga A relaxed environment for art creation. Sign up to receive individualized instruction and paint subjects of your choosing with distinguished artist Mary Veiga. This is a class for beginner and advanced students. Foundations of Portrait Drawing Tuesday 1:00pm­3:00pm Trevor Twist Study the human face from both live models and portrait casts as a way to increase your drawing ability and build your portfolio. An intimate class with a meditative study into the masters that guides you through basic anatomy as well as the portrait throughout art history. Intro to Drawing and Oil Painting Tuesday 6:30pm­9:00pm Trevor Twist Concept by concept, Trevor will take you through the foundation fundamentals of mark making essential for creating representational art. Then, these lessons will be combined with those of oil painting in order to create a sense of a complete skill set. Students can choose to focus on drawing, painting, or a combination of both. Classical Painting: The Spanish Cannon and Picasso Wednesday 9 ­ 12 Trevor Twist Explore classical oil painting techniques through the work and concepts of Spanish master, Pablo Picasso. Other painters of the style will be studied for breadth. Improve your skills and gain understanding into one of history’s most prolific artist. Watercolor Painting Wednesday 1:00 ­ ​

9:00pm William C. Wright Bill brings over 30 years of teaching experience to every class. He is an expert instructor and painter of landscapes, florals, and animals and still​
lives. Join his merry band of followers and you will learn to paint a project of your choice. Bill's gentle nature and teaching methods allow for original and intelligently painted work by his students. Two separate sections are available. Drawing Fundamentals Thursday 9:00am­12:00pm Trevor Twist Drawing fundamentals broken down to the most essential elements. Portraits, the figure, landscapes and still­lives are covered in this comprehensive course. Open to the Public: Life Drawing Thursday 6:30pm­9:00pm No Instruction Casual and welcoming atmosphere with artistic peers. A live model is provided for participants to draw from. There is no instruction in this open studio session­ just discussion and positivity. Bring your own wine and cheese. $15.00 suggested donation for the model fee. Landscape Oil Painting Friday 9:00am­12:00pm David Buckley Good This is the most effective Landscape Painting class in Maryland! David's wit, wisdom and expertise make for accelerated artistic development in the classical tradition of oil painting. This is a great class for both beginning and advanced students. Private Lessons Private lessons are available at $75.00/ hour for youth students and $100.00/ hour for adults. Each consecutive hour will cost $50.00/youth and $75.00/adults. These lessons are the perfect way to study with master artists on a subject of your choice, or to finish a project. Please call or email to inquire about availability. School Policies Priority enrollment is by the first date of class; rolling admission follows a rollover or pro­rated policy. Classes run according to the Baltimore City School Calendar. If schools are closed due to weather emergencies, the Mitchell School will not be open. If you are unsure about whether or not the school is open, please call ahead, or check our website or our Facebook. Makeup classes due to weather will be scheduled by the individual teachers. Each student is allowed 2 makeup classes per session (outside of classes cancelled due to weather). Further makeup classes can be discussed with the individual teacher. Please contact the school or your teacher if you are going to miss a class, or if you need to plan a makeup class. Private lessons can be taken at a discounted rate if you need to have a makeup class outside of a normal class time. Cost Youth classes are $240.00 per each 8­class session, and adult classes are $310.00 per each 8­class session. There is a $30.00 materials fee required for each class. Some classes may have a larger materials fee due to the nature of the class; please contact the school to check if you are unsure. Checks or cash are due within the first week of classes. Payment plans available on a case to case basis. Discounts available for students taking multiple classes, members of the military, and educators.
