Timber Decking - Grading
Grading is distinguished by selective gum veins, spirals, burls, insect trails and other natural
features that give timber a unique character, as individual as a signature. Decking is not graded
for colour variation or grain patterns as it forms part of the natural beauty of timber.

Standard and Better grade
Standard and Better grade provides a moderate to low level of natural feature within hardwood
timber decking.
Australian Hardwood
Blackbutt
Blackbutt is renowned for its strength and versatility with attractive colouring from cream to
pale brown and sometimes with a tinge of pink.
Australian Hardwood
Spotted Gum
Spotted Gum. A very tough timber, Spotted Gum varies from pale grey browns and soft creams to a rich
chocolate brown.

Australian Hardwood
Forest Reds
Forest Reds is a blend of red coloured hardwood species ranging from pale pinks to deep rich reds.

River Reds
River Reds has subtle rose tones that vary from pale pink to soft reds and red browns. It
has a straight grain and even texture.

How to Measure Up
How to convert square metres to lineal metres
Calculation: square metres board cover width = lineal metres
Example: using 86mm wide board, 80 square metres of deck area

0.086 = 930 lineal metres
How to convert lineal metres to square metres
Calculation: lineal metre x board cover width = square metres
Example: using 86mm wide board, 900 lineal metres of decking
900 x 0.086 = 77.4 square metres
Please note: 86mm = 0.086 of one metre
Note: A recommended allow for wastage of 10% for decking products.
