The company acquired Metrix Realty Group (Ontario) Inc with the aim of expanding its property valuation services throughout the Greater Toronto Area and Canada. The terms of the acquisition have not been released. Metrix Ontario has been rebranded as Avison Young. Metrix Ontario Founder and President, Paul Stewart, and VicePresident, Matthew McWatters, become Principals of Avison Young and 17 other staff join the company. In December 2015, Avison Young opened a new office in Mexico City, Mexcio, and in Memphis, Tennessee, USA. Mark E. Rose, Chair and Chief Executive Officer of Avison Young, says, “We are extremely pleased to announce the acquisition of Metrix Ontario, which is the next step in our on-going growth in Canada. “This expansion of our existing property appraisal service-line offering will give us greater capabilities to provide valuation and advisory services to our clients on a local and national basis – something that our clients are asking for. This acquisition is the ideal way to accomplish that goal.” Metrix Ontario, which was established in 2002, offers clients a broad range of advisory services using technological innovations and the most up-to-date financial software to compile appraisals on multi-family real estate, development land and office, retail and industrial property. Paul Stewart, a 31-year real estate industry veteran, is responsible for expanding Avison Young’s property appraisal service offerings in all business classes throughout the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and assisting with the expansion across Canada. He will also manage Avison Young’s day-to-day appraisal operations in the GTA and collaborate with other offices across the country.
