OUTLINE OF CONSTITUTION

PREAMBLE (i.e. Statement of Purpose)
We, the members of Miami Dade College, North Campus
Urban Design Fashion Club
hereby associate ourselves to:
educate and inform our student members about the ever changing careers within the design /entertainment
industries. We will provide the students with fun educational lectures, workshops, events, and activities. In order
for them to use their creative skills professionally to support their school and community. All while following the
necessary guidelines and protocol of Student Life

Article I: Name
The name of this organization shall be:
Urban Design Fashion Club
Article II: Objectives
educate and inform our student members about the ever changing careers within the design /entertainment
industries. We will provide the students with fun educational lectures, workshops, events, and activities.
(State the Objectives of the Organization)
Article III. Membership
Section 1. The membership of this organization shall be open to all Miami Dade College North Campus
students faculty and staff.
Section 2. A quorum of membership for voting purposes shall be reached when all participating
members and or advisors of the club are present. (Group may decide: quorum may vary
from 1/3 to 2/6 of membership).
Section 3. Subject to review by the current officers, the advisor and president shall have the power to
suspend or expel a member for non-payment of dues, for non-attendance at meetings without
valid excuse (any member missing two out of three meetings will be placed on suspension, if any
one additional meeting is misses, i.e., three out of four, the member will be dropped from the
club), for conduct unbecoming a member; or for dropping below scholastic requirements of the
club.
Section 4. Race, creed, handicap, sex, personality social status, or religion shall not be a factor in
deciding which students may join the organization.
Article IV. Officers and Duties
The officers of the organization shall be: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, and…(any others
desired.)
Section 1. The duties of the President shall be to preside at all meetings of the organization, to enforce the
constitution, to decide questions of orders, to appoint committee hands, to call
special meetings, etc.
Section 2. The duties of the Vice-President shall be to preside at all meetings in the absence of the
President, be ex-officio member of all meetings, etc.
Section 3. The duties of the Secretary shall be to keep records of the meetings, to maintain the roster
membership, to take role, be responsible for correspondence, etc.
Section 4. The duties of the Treasurer shall be to collect dues, maintain financial records, make
expenditures, to render regular reports upon request, etc.
Section 5. T h e d u t i e s o f t h e Communications Manager shall be to keep track of all the members
contact information and keep track of social media websites, and accounts.
Article V. Election of Officers
Election shall be held on the specific time, i.e. once a year, at opening of each semester, etc. Voting shall be by
secret ballot; a plurality vote shall determine the winners.
Section 1. Only members who are in good standing, having paid dues and attended meetings
regularly (specify time, some clubs specify membership for at least one term prior to holding
office) are eligible to hold office. Only members in good standing are eligible to vote.
Section 2. The term of the office shall be August 26 to May 1
Section 3. Election of officers shall be held in May, by a majority of the
members present, from candidates chosen by a special nominating
committee to consist of five members to be present and head of the
committee.
Section 4. Votes shall be counted by the club advisor(s) and the current club
officers.
Section 5. The newly elected officers shall be installed in the next to the last
official meeting and take over at the last meeting.
Article VI. Removal of Officers
Section 1. Situations/Conditions that would call for such actions.
Section 2. Procedures for such actions to take place.
Article VII. Suspension and Expulsion of Members
Section 1. If a member is found guilty of not attending meetings
for three to four weeks, bullying or harassing a fellow
member or stealing. Then he or she will be
questioned and will be formally be dismissed from
the club.
Section 2. The member in question will be called in during a
club meeting with the advisor, officers, and
members present at the time. They will be asked to
announce and explain their suspension or expulsion
to the club and why they are leaving. And will be
dismissed until further notice.
Article VIII. Committees (Optional: Some groups specify)
The group may create different committees to better fit the organization’s needs.
Article IX. Faculty / Staff Advisor
This group shall have a regular faculty / staff advisor who will attend all meetings and advise the organization
(follow Student Organization Advisor Guidelines).
Article X. Meetings and Dues
Section 1. Meetings shall be held regularly on Tuesdays and Wednesdays 2:30pm
to 3:30pm in room 6135
Section 2. An initiation fee for all new members will be collected each year by
November 1st.
Section 3. Dues in the amount of $ 10.00
shall be collected from each regular member each term.
Article XI. Robert's Rules of Order
Robert's Rules of Order shall be used as a guide for the presiding officer in all situations not covered by provisions
of the constitution.
Article XII. Amendments
Amendments to this constitution shall be submitted to the President writing for submission to the members for
vote. A ten member group
vote shall suffice adoption thereof, subject to approval by the Director of
Student Life and the appropriate organizational council.
