Application for Hjørring Kommunes Kulturstøttepulje
'The project has started when mankind has invented the wheel!' Therefore I am writing
to you regarding to the Hjørring Kommune's Kulturstøttepulje. I am very interested in
making a unicycle event which creates cooperation between educational institutions,
voluntary organisations, and comercial life. While it builds on a present upcoming local
initiative as unicycling that combines elements from theater and performance and rolls
together the great people of Hjørring and the surrounding area for a good exercise time.
I am Krisztina Szabo from Hungary. I am a student of University College of Northern
Jutland, Hjørring Campus and member of Cirkus Suni / Steinerskolens Unicyklister. I would
like to organize a Unicycle Show in Hjørring with Cirkus Suni unicycle group of NY
Steiner School and two World Champions of Unicyclist. I am currently writing my
diploma and my topic is on Project Management; How to organize an event in Hjørring.
When I started my education in 2013 in Hjørring I realized that Denmark has a lot of
unicycle riders and national/international competitions. In 2008 the World Championship of
Unicycling, UNICON XIV was held in Copenhagen and The Extreme Unicycling
Championship, EUC (it was called FLUCK back then) was also held in Copenhagen and I
found that Northern Jutland has amazingly creative unicycling groups such as Cirkus Suni
(around 15 kids) in Hjørring and a much bigger unicycling team (around 90 participants)
LUCK in Aalborg. I have been a member in Cirkus Suni and have been participating in their
shows in Hjørring, Skagen and also in Kristiansund, Norway. I have attended a few activities
of Aalborg’s LUCK group in my first year in Denmark. They are bigger than Cirkus Suni and
more professional but in the unicycle community we are One big motivation to each other
and we like to learn and teach. It is a sport for every age group who like to have fun and
improve balance.
There are plenty of unicycle events happening every year. The most important is UNICON
which is the World Championship happening every second year. It gathers all the riders from
all over the world and all the categories of unicycling has a possibility to participate in the
competitions. During the year there are many separate events for all categories. For
example: mountain, urban, freestyle, long distance unicycling. They all need different
circumstances. Hjorring has a great location and environment for freestyle unicycling
because of the big gyms in the schools and the town has many good spots for urban
unicycling. For a one day show the two categories could be easily combined at a few places.
Such as as Nørkærs Plads, Sct. Olai Parkeringsklder, Bropladsen at Bispestaven, and maybe
alså the upcoming front square of the new theatre.

My event would be special for everyone because Hjørring would have two World-Known-
Professional guests giving great shows and workshops, the Hungarian World Champ Mark
Fabian and the Spanish World Champ Pablo Rodriguez Codes with cooperation the local
unicyclists from Cirkus Suni.
It will be a 'Once in a lifetime special show', opening show by Cirkus Suni.
The main shows would be by the World Champions to see their style and talents such as:
jumping on pallets and balancing on elements and doing the most famous and hardest
tricks. Together with the unicycle workshops it will make a whole day entertainment for
families and unicyclists of the region.
The workshops will provide unicycle learning at all levels. The idea of the workshops is that
the experienced Champions and the skilled unicyclists will be giving advices to the younger
kids on how to improve their technical skills as well as showing techniques and ideas how to
improve balance.
Alongside the "Unicycle New-Bee Workshop" with loads of unicycles and experienced
instructors we will make it available for the kids of Hjørring a possibility to try out the fun of
unicycling.
The event would be held in Hjørring in February 2017. We are aiming for the winter holiday.
It will include a spectacular unicycle show and a big workshop for all to join.
In order to make all this possible, we asure to attract and reach the audiance by making a
'TEASER show' and give an idea about the quality and style we like to represent at our
upcoming event in the winter-holiday. The TEASER show would have dual-purpose.
First making a small entertainment in front of the new Theather at the opening on January
14th. While people are moving around and waiting to get inside the building if they wish to
warm up a little bit or grab on to the possibility to try a unicycle we will be there to help
them. Secondly, when the curious visitors enter the theater they see Suni-kids practicing and
get an idea of what the event in the winter-holiday could be all about. It would be a great
opportunity for the 'Hjørring on One wheel' to spread the words and attract more people.
The airplane tickets are approximately would be for two people with Norwegian airlines
5000 DKK. (from Budapest to Aalborg and back). Around the 10th of January until the 16th
so we have some time to see the place and practice with Cirkus Suni.
I hereby apply for Hjørring Kommune's Kulturstøttepulje to cover the unicyclists shows,
show elements and advertisements. To cover the World Champions' airplane tickets and
staying for the performance I ask your suggestion and advice which could help us.

-Hjørring on One wheel' graphic and art design for the shirts, 1500 DKK
-approximately 25 shirts for the performers, 2000 DKK
-Stickers and fliers for the event, 1000 DKK
-lunch and snacks for the day for the performers (approx. 25 person), 2000 DKK
-airplane ticket for the world champions, 6000 DKK
-palletts, screws equipments for the show,
-place rental, 2500 DKK
-promotion on social media, 1000 DKK
-extra entertainment (Balloon artist man) 1500 DKK
-Unicycle rental from LUCK Aalborg 1000 DKK
-Airplane tickets for the TEASER show for two person approx. 5000 DKK
