Event Photography Checklist - Best Buddies International

Best Buddies Event Photography
Photography Checklist
It is our goal is to use nothing but photos from Best Buddies events in our packets, brochures
and posters and to achieve this – we need your help!
High resolution photos: All photos should be taken on the camera’s highest resolution setting. A
professional photographer is preferred to have at the event, but this is not always an option. In
the case that there is not a hired professional, everyone involved needs to take on the role of
photographer. If a point-and-shoot camera is available, this is the preferred option over a
camera phone. Read the manual and adjust camera to the optimal setting to achieve the best
possible photographs. Things to remember while adjusting the settings of your camera:
Lighting: Take into account where you are and how the lighting affects the photos
•
In or outdoors
•
Cloudy or sunny
•
Day or night
Action or Still Shots: Many cameras have settings that automatically adjust for different speeds:
•
Landscape
•
Portrait
•
Sports
Manual Mode lets you select both the shutter speed and the aperture.
Background: The cleaner the photo, the easier it is to use! For a clean photo, it is best to have a
clear background behind the focus of the picture. A blurry background is a good option as well,
as long as the object of the photo is in focus.
PAIRS of people! Best Buddies Friendship Walk is powered by friendship, so let’s capture friend
interactions.
Mix it up! We live in a diverse world, so try to get as much diversity in your photos as possible.
We want everyone to be able to connect with Best Buddies and a picture is worth a thousand
words.
Ethnicity: Focus on photographing all different ethnicities at your event. When photographing
pairs; try to get a good mix of people.
Variety of poses and angels: Focus on natural photos. Some posed pictures are fine, but try to
catch people looking at each other, talking, laughing, warming up, stretching, etc.
