ON STAGE 2015
A TCOE Oral Interpretation Event for Grades K-8.
March 16, 17, 19, 23, 25, 26.
This Performance Celebration provides an opportunity for all
participating students to recite successfully before an appreciative,
enthusiastic audience.
Three sessions EACH DAY: 9:00 a.m., 10:15 a.m., and 11:30 a.m.
To participate, complete the attached registration form and return it by
Wednesday, February 11, 2015.
We set this REGISTRATION DEADLINE early so we can inform
schools of dates and times to allow for bus transportation arrangements.
(Please let us know ASAP if you need to be scheduled with another school.)
Every accommodation is made for schedule requests, however participation
in this event has grown every year. We had over 1,400 students
participating in 2014! We ask that you PLEASE LIMIT special requests for
UNAVOIDABLE hardships only.

BEAUTIFUL KEEPSAKE CERTIFICATES are given to every student. They are
personalized with a seal of the student’s earned award level. IMPORTANT: Please
triple check the correct spelling of student’s names and print clearly. The certificates
are printed ahead of time and names need to be submitted correctly!

Poetry & Prose Registration Guidelines
a Student Entries
Each school is allowed to enter a maximum
of six (6) performances. Any combinaon of
the following is acceptable:
g 6 solos
g 1 or 2 small groups (2-5 students)
g1 large group (up to 10 students)
Important: Students can only be involved in
one presentaon. See registraon form for
details.
C Presentaon Format
Your students will be performing in different
rooms. This provides the opportunity for
students to hear recitaons from other
schools. Students gain valuable insights by
observing other student performances and
hearing all judges’ criques.
% Best Part: Judges
Expert and experienced Judges will
comment on each presentaon. Judging is
based on the criteria stated on the judges'
evaluaon sheet. (Please see sample.)

Busing Consideraons
If you need to consolidate bus
transportaon with other schools in your
area, please be sure to let us know well in
advance. We will do our best to schedule
you at the same me.

Each year more Resource and
Speech/Language students are taking part
in this oral interpretaon event. Our Judges
have experse working with students with
special needs. We are happy to work with
teachers to include your special services
students.
Special Services Student Accommodaons
✰ We will inform the judge of any special
needs your student may have.
✰ Students may perform in a smaller
group session if available.
✰ Students may go first in the session.
✰ Students may leave the session early.
Judging is geared to meet each
student's individual ability.

share and we will send you a spiral bound
book containing the complete collecon of
Poetry & Prose submissions for this year.

EVALUATION OF STUDENT PRESENTATION
Material may be read or memorized. Selection may be poetry or prose. Meaningful gestures and facial
expressions are encouraged, but no costumes, props or character makeup is allowed. The degree of success
the student achieves in communicating (1) interpretation of the author’s intent and (2) involvement with the
literature is considered, and very important.
