DIRECTIONS FROM THE
FLORENCE AIRPORT
Exiting the airport, follow the green signs to A1 ROMA (the A1 highway towards Rome).
After you get on the A1 to Rome, you travel for about 15 kilometers or so until you come to the FIRENZE
IMPRUNETA exit (formerly known as Firenze Certosa) with signs directing you to SIENA.
Exit here, pay the toll (less than €2) and immediately get in the roundabout using the outermost lane, as you
will then need to take the first exit on the right. There is a blue sign that directs you to Siena (Siena 56km).
This puts you on directly on the Raccordo, the Florence - Siena roadway or SI-FI, a narrow, limited-access highway.
You travel on this for about 67km and eventually drive past the Siena Nord and Siena Ovest exits. Take the
following exit - SIENA SUD.
From this exit, turn left at the T junction following for BUONCONVENTO.
In about 300 meters you will be forced to turn right, yielding to traffic on the SS2 south towards Rome and
Buonconvento. Continue south on the SS2 (turning right at the upcoming T intersection) for 26 kilometers
until you arrive at BUONCONVENTO (on your right you will see the Medieval walls of the historic town center).
As soon as you reach the SHELL station on your left, turn right on the road opposite that leads into
Buonconvento.
Continue straight through town (passing through a stop sign after 50 meters and subsequently past the Coop
supermarket on your right) and stay on this road for about 4 kilometers. It will take you up a very steep hill.
At the top of the hill you will see a sign that says: BIBBIANO (a tiny village of about 100 people) and a church on
your left. Stay on this road as it veers left around the corner; the church is to your left as you turn. (You will see
that the road forks off to the right at this point. Stay left.)
Immediately, you will see in front of you a left turn and a large parking lot. Turn left onto this road (instead of
bearing right on the main road) and drive for about 100 meters past the TNT Pub on the right.
From there you can see the tower of a castle about 1 kilometer ahead on your left.
Continue straight, taking the dirt road 500 meters to the first fork. You will see a sign pointing left for the
Borgo. Bear left, going around the castle property -- first down and then up, for about 300 meters.
At the next fork (with olive trees) bear right -- you will see the brick columns of our entrance gate. There are
three buttons: Office, Kitchen, Director. Ring them until the gate is opened for you.
Follow the road up to the right to drop off your bags at the main entrance. Parking is located along the road or in
our underground garage.
The trip takes 1.5 to 2 hours depending on traffic.
