No matter what the subject is, it is always
fascinating to see such things up close and
personal.

We pride ourselves in not using any donations for
administrative costs. Such costs are covered by
annual dues paid by members. Member dedication
to the fire service is further demonstrated by
members acquiring their own protective equipment
to be used at fire scenes (typically it is gear
“retired” by firefighters).
Since fires and other disasters can happen any
time, day or night, in all types of weather, members
often use vacation time or sacrifice sleep to help at
emergencies.
Members must be 18 years or older.

Rehab Response Team
Fire Buff Conventions
This group of the MFBC is its most visible and
well known. This committee provides rehab and
hydration to emergency workers at scenes of
extended duration. Rehab-1 is a kitchen on
wheels, able to feed 150+ responders within 90
minutes of activation. Rehab-2 has additional
rehab supplies plus onboard restroom facilities.
The MFBC belongs to the International Fire
Buff Associates. The IFBA consists of over 80
fire service organizations across the United
States and Canada, grouped regionally.
Throughout the year, the Clubs of each region
meet and once a year, one of the Clubs hosts
an annual convention.
Our rigs are equipped with misting fans, tents,
chairs, tables, and other supplies to aid in the
rehab cycles that emergency workers require to
sustain themselves at large scale long duration
incidents.

The convention is open to family and friends
and many tours of local attractions (both fire
related and not) occur.
Our members are trained to operate safely in
restricted zones. Members wear much of the
same protective gear as firefighters, as we are
operating in hazardous conditions, sometimes
side-by-side with firefighters manning hose lines.
To the general public or the media, we look like
firefighters and must conduct ourselves with
professionalism and high standards at all times.
A typical incident lasts 2-4 hours. We are
equipped to handle all types of situations.
Fire Service Community Events
The MFBC participates in public education
events such as safety fairs or fire department
open houses. We allow the public to tour our rigs
and we explain why we are needed.
We also assist the
fire departments
at events that
draw
large
populations, such
as marathons, air
shows, etc.
We also help at
training exercises, such as airport emergencies,
mass casualty drills, active shooter scenarios,
etc.
