Schäffer’s 9660T takes
pivot-steer loaders to
new heights
L
oader manufacturer Schäffer
has launched the 9660T that
further extends the capabilities of
its range of pivot-steer telehandlers.
The new machine combines the
all-round view and traction force
of a standard wheeled loader with
the lifting height and reach of a
telescopic loader.
The 9660T has a tipping load of
4.7t, an operating weight of 11t and
a maximum lifting height of 6.1m.
The 9660T incorporates
Schäffer’s Dual Clutch
Transmission – combining a
double-clutch transmission with
hydrostatic drive for the first time –
resulting in higher traction force in
a drive that’s comfortable and easy
to handle.

Hysolv to distribute
leading swine flu
vaccine
H
ysolv Animal Health
has been appointed
exclusive distributors
for the market-leading
Respiporc Flu 3 swine
flu vaccine in the UK and
Ireland.
The two-dose, inactivated
vaccine provides a high level
of immunity in pigs for up
to six months, depending
on their age. If administered
to a sow 14 days before
farrowing, it will provide
passive maternal immunity
to her piglets for 33 days.
“In the UK, outbreaks of
swine flu tend to be sporadic,
but when the disease
occurs it can have a serious
financial impact on the pig
herd,” said Hysolv director
Richard Brealey. “There can
be morbidity and deaths in
sows, aborted litters and,
when spread to finishing
stock, the disease affects
production performance.”
Respiporc Flu 3 was
developed in Germany
by IDT Biologika. It is a
POM-V (prescription-only
medicine) only available
through veterinary surgeons.
Previously distributed by
Merial Animal Health Ltd as
Gripovac 3, it has an excellent
safety record and is the only
vaccine effective against
three strains of swine flu.

Natural German
performance improver
T
he UK importer of a new
natural German feed
additive that’s claimed to
improve the performance of all
classes of pigs is looking for
companies to assist with UK
trials of the product.
Ron Edmonds of EWI
Associates says he’s willing
to supply Sanbio Sanan, from
Gutenborn-Drossdorf-based
Sanbos, at low cost to feed
companies that can arrange
field trials under UK conditions.
Those co-operating with trials
will then get favourable lifelong discounts on the product
because of their help.
Sanbio Sana is a natural,
clay-based feed additive
that’s said to: effectively
bind mycotoxins; effectively
bind endotoxins; stimulate
the digestion; and protect
against disease and degraded
performance.
As well as its toxin-binding
effects, Sanbio Sana is
also said to increase the
performance level of livestock
through bio-dynamic effects
acquired through a bioresonance process that
“activates” the bentonite in the
70% of clay minerals that make
up the product.
A 110-day farm-scale trial
in Germany on two batches
of 200-pigs resulted in feed
intakes being 18.7% higher
in the Sanbio Sana treated
group (20kg/t from days one to
seven; 1.0kg/t from day eight
to 15; and 0.5kg/t from day 15
onwards), as well as a 10.4%
increase in daily weight gain
and end pig weights 7.8%
higher.
Other benefits are said to
include improved fluidity of
the slurry that ensures fewer
drainage problems, and a
reduction of harmful gases and
bad odours in the pig buildings
– which should have a positive
effect on respiratory diseases
and stress-related anxiety.
Feed companies that would like
to trial Sanbio Sana should call
Ron Edmonds on 01162 592590,
