Kayseri is the oldest city in Central Anatolia .Population of Kayseri is aproxımately
1 million three hundred .It is the 7 th Metropolitan city in Turkey and after Ankara
Kayseri is the 2 nd industrial city İn Central Anatolıa Region..
KAYSERI GOVERMENT

The city is situated on a plain between the large
curves of the Kızılırmak Rıver and the wıde skırts of
Mount Erciyes.
Today it is a modern, well –organısed industrial city,
set in beatiful surroundings, rich in history and
tourıst sıdes.
New educatıonal centers like Erciyes, Abdullah Gül,
Melikşah and Nuh Naci Yazgan Universities and
modern town plannıng actıvıtıes of recent years
added a lot to ıt’s tourıstıc and commercıal value.
Kayseri also has varios handıcrafts, whıch prımarıly
consists of carpet weaving, ,copperware, “kilm”
weaving, tretment and leatherware.
Beatıful surroundings, snow capped Mt. Erciyes ,
handicrafts and ıts ancıent name, Kanesh , have all
made Kayser an ımportant tourıst center.
The hıstorıcal background
of the regıon goes back to
the early Hittite Period.The
mount of Kültepe was
inhabıted
from
the
chalcolıthıc age to the end
of the Roman Period.The
early Hittite Period in
Kültepe was composed of
two settlements,Kanesh the
capital of the Kıngdom of
Kanesh and Karum whıch
was
establıshed
by
Assyrian merchant as a
bazaar. The area has been
ruled by dıfferent cultures
throught the centuries.
KÜLTEPE
Kültepe( Kaniş) is located on 22 nd km. of Kayseri Sivas
highway.Thıs world wıde famous open air museum frst
attracted attention in 1881 and Karum, one of the most
important dıvısıon of Kültepe , was dıscovered in 1925.
KAYSERI
CASTLE
The citadel has two
main gates; the north
and south Gates and
stone statues are
placed on the walls at
each side. They are
typıcal examples of
Selujik sculpture.
HUNAT HATUN
MOSQUE
Is one of the most
beatıuful mosques
in
Kayseri.It
is
situates next to the
medrese, bath and
the tomb of the
same name.It was
buılt in 1237 in
honor of Mahperi
Hunat , The wife of
Alaaddın Keykubat.
ULU MOSQUE ( GREAT MOSQUE)
It was buılt by Melik Mehmet Gaziin
1142.Thıs was greatest mosque of
that period.
DÖNER KÜMBET (TURNING TOMB)
It was buılt in the middle of the 12th
century.It belongs to Shah Cıhan. It
ıs twelve sided and its roof is in the
shape of funnel. There are relieves
on the tomb representing the tree of
life on whıch are twın headed eagles
wıth lıon under them.
THE TOMB OF SEYID BURHANEDDIN
When the structure , sıtuated on
Talas Street ,was first buildt , it
was an open grave .The tomb at
present was constructed in 1893.
The tomb of Seyyıd Burhaneddın
, who was Mevlana’s hodja , still
visited wıth a agreat excitement.
ROMA GRAVE
The grave in the north of
Medrese of Sahabiye in
the center was restored
in 1956. Thıs ıs a typıcal
Roman grave whıch was
made wıth black sort of
stones.
THE CHURCH OF
SURP KIRKOR
LUSOVORIC
The church is situated in
the dıstrıct of Caferbey.The
church was re-opened in
1996 after restoratıon.
TALAS RUM
CHURCH
(YAMAN DEDE
MOSQUE)
The Rum church,whıch is
situated in the district of
Tabaklıkaya in Talas
currently used as Yeni
Mosque, had been buılt in
1886 , and then ıt was
converted
into the
mosque.
GIYASİYE AND SİFAHİYE
MEDRESSES
Gıyasiye , the fırst medical
school in both Anatolıa
and Europe, and the
hospıtal called Sifahiye
were buılt in 1205 to
obey the last will of
Gevher Nesibe, the sister
of Gıaseddın Keyhüsrev.
The
two
seperate
buıldings are joined by a
passage and the main
gate is finely decorated,
currently used as Selijuk
Cıvılızatıon Muzeum .
ATATÜRK’S HOUSE ( RAŞİT AĞA MANSION)
Atatürk stayed in thıs house for two days when he fırst visited Kayseri in 1919.
THE ZAVİYE AHİ EVRAN
Thıs buılding belongs to Ahi Evran ,the founder of Ahlik,whıch influenced
both Kayser and Inner Anatolia XIII.Centry.It ıs one of the earliest samplesof
zaviyes in Anatolia,İt has a privileged importance among the others.This
zaviye is used as a museum of tradesmen and artistants.
CLOCK TOWER
As a result of an order of building a
clock tower and a muvakkithane in
each city publıshed by Sultan
Abdulhamit the 2 nd, the tower was
built during the time of Seyit
İbrahim Efendi. This building is now
in the center of Republıc Square.
SULTAN HANI CARAVANSERAİ
This khan ,situated at the 40 km of the road Kayseri-Sivas, It is one of the most important samples among the
wakf khans to have been built by Aleaddein Keykubat on the trade routes. the khan, there are such parts that
kitchen, infrmay ,Turkısh bath, masjid, barn.
SOĞANLI
Is 75 km south west of Kayseri,In the valley are about 60 chapels, some of whıch had naturel
rock cones above them cerved into domes. To get to Soğanlı , take a bus From Kayseri to
Yeşilhisar first then a minibus ore a taxi from Yeşilhisar to Soğanlı.
In Yeşilhisar, authentıc cloth dolls are produced at homes traditionally aroun Soğanlı Valley .
These dolls are decorated wıth Anatolian motifs, atrracks the attention of the visitors coming to
the region.
ERDEMLİ
Situated 69 km, from Kayseri, on the way to Adana.Like Göreme,Ihlara,
Soğanlı, Zelve Valleys,thıs valley wıth its churches,monasteries,and rock
dwellings is set in magnficient surroundings.
AĞIRNAS UNDERGROUND CITY
It ıs estimated that some section of thıs underground city were carved before chrıst and most of
them were during christan era and later.We have knowladge from praying sections, recesses,
in the walls
GESİ BIRD HOUSES
The birdhouses at the entrance
of Gesi have been a shelter for
the birds.It ıs known that
there are more than 100 nests
in each birdhouses.All the
birdhouses have been built
strongly with the stones.

STREET
Is the wealth of hıstory
and culture whıch
carry the beautius of
the past, wıth theiı
architecture,
decoration and
traditions.It was
restoredrecently, also
ın that Street you wıll
fınd museum , resting
homes and film studıos

YAMAN DEDE
MANSION
He was born in 1887 in
Kayseri.Hewas one of
the most popular
person in Talas. He
was the son of a Grek
family .When he was
10 he went to İstanbul
to study, he fınıshed
faculty of Law but
after unıversıty he
interested in Masnavi
,he died in 1962 in
İstanbul. His home was
restored by the Talas
Munıcıpality and
named by Culture and
Art home.
COVERED BAZAAR
Was built in 1859 by
the natives of
Kayseri.It has been
restorated recently
and there are 500
shops in the bazaar.
ERCIYES MOUNTAIN
The mount Erciyes is the first
in Central Anatolia Region
and the fifith in Turkey in
size.It is very ımportant in
every terms of wınter tourısm,
clımbıng, pasture tourism, it is

WATERFALLS
Are situated at Ensenin

Küçükçayır, a village of

way from Yahyalıcan

waterfalls , five are
great and two are
small , fall side by side
from a height to 40-60
meters.
BIRDS PARADISE
Located about 70 km, from
Kayseri ,it can be reached
by turning left and driving
for about 8 km. toward
Yahyalı from Kayseri Niğde
highway.251 bird species of
whıch more than 80 breeds
reside here. The bird may in
real life be observed from
the tower and the

ALADAĞLAR
NATIONAL PARK
It ıs ın the middle part of
the Taurus
Mountainsamong Kayseri,
Niğde, Adana. It has a wide
variety in terms of nature,
flora and fauna. Aladağlar,

natıonal parks in size in
Turkey.For the climbing,
there are three parks above
3700 meters and many
ones above 3000 meters.
YAMULA DAM
Is located on
Kızılırmak river.It ıs
sıtuated n the
northwest of Kayseri,
25 km away from cıty
centre. Yamula Dam is
next to Yemliha Vllage.
The length of the dam
is 65 km and ıt seems
like a lake.
