The Take Stock in Children program was established in 1995 as a non-profit organization in
Florida with the purpose of providing a unique opportunity for deserving low-income students to
escape the cycle of poverty through education. Take Stock in Children accomplishes its success as
a result of its innovative multi-year program model that provides wrap around services to its
students throughout their middle and high school years and continues through post-secondary
education.
Program outputs include one-on-one mentoring, college readiness coaching, monthly academic
workshops, student advocacy, a full tuition college scholarship, and post-secondary retention
services. Take Stock in Children Palm Beach County is an affiliate of the Take Stock in Children
program, since inception we have awarded over $12M in scholarships to at-risk youth in Palm
Beach County with a 98% program success rate.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
Take Stock in Children Palm Beach County (TSICPB) seeks an experienced professional to serve
as a Junior Grant Writer. The Jr. Grant Writer will be primarily responsible for developing and
writing grant proposals to foundations and corporations. The Jr. Grant Writer will report directly
to the Director of Development.
The candidate must be able to work independently, as well as collaboratively in a supportive and
direct manor. S/he will have strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal
communication skills, and the ability to address and solve problems as they occur. In addition, s/he
will be diplomatic, of the highest integrity, and possess sound judgment. Responsibilities include,
but are not limited to:
 Grant Writing: Developing and writing grant proposals and persuasively communicating
TSICPB’s mission and programs to potential funders.
 Conducting excellent research, collecting data, and developing background information for
proposals.
 Assembling grant requests for submission, including letters, proposals, budgets, and
presentations.
 Adhering to grants calendar to ensure timely submission of letters of inquiry, proposal
deadlines, and reports.
 Donor Reporting: Manage, prepare, and submit quarterly student reports to donors.
 Community Newsletter: Manage timelines, conduct interviews, write articles, design
layout, and oversee editing of our community newsletter via Constant Contact.

Prioritizing projects to keep multiple projects moving in a timely manner, meet deadlines
and manage supplemental material required for proposals.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidate must possess excellent writing, analytical, and research skills, including experience with
programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. S/he must be self-motivated, detailoriented, and highly organized.
Minimum Associate’s Degree with at least 3-5 years of grant writing experience, previous work
with a non-profit preferred.
