It has been fantastic to see all the smiling faces return to school this week. The holidays are such a fun and relaxing time so it can be hard to get back into the swing of things (especially in this weather!), but we are very impressed by how positive all our classes have been so far this week. We love hearing the stories of holidays, day trips, visits from family and friends and all the other exciting things our students get up to in the holidays, and it seems there were definitely some memorable moments over the last two weeks. For the first 6 weeks of this term Jane Addison will be on leave and I will be doing my best to 'hold the fort'. Miss Megan Callow has been employed to cover for Jane's absence and will share the teaching duties on Year 5/6 for the next 6 weeks. This will free me up to be in the office from 12:00 each day and will enable me to do any administration work that is needed. It will also give me the time to chat to parents and catch up with what is happening in the other classrooms. So feel free to drop in and say hi, or if you would like to talk about something more specific please remember my door is always open. Later this term our Year 5/6 students will be off to Canberra for their 2016 excursion. Due to the availability of times and venues the dates needed to be changed, so please ensure you have the updated dates if this applies to you. The excursion will be on the 14th and 15th of September (Week 9). If you would like to chat about this further just send me an email or give me a call. On behalf of the staff of St. Joseph's I'd like to wish Peter Chitts and his family the best of luck as Peter prepares to have surgery in the next few days. Peter is a valued member of our staff and we are all hoping for a quick and easy recovery. Our thoughts are with you, Peter. Our thoughts continue to be with Nikki and the Duck family as well. It is fantastic to hear that Nikki is now home and can continue her treatment more comfortably (albeit with a bit more travel!). Keep on swimming, Nik. Over the past two or three school weeks it has become very apparent how caring our school community is. From parents offering kind words and support to our teachers, to our community banding together to support a family in need. It makes you realise how lucky we really are. Thank you to all those parents and families who continue to be a source of positivity and kindness within our school. We truly appreciate it. I hope you all enjoy the first week back at school and the normality it brings to your home, and I look forward to chatting to you all at some point in the coming weeks Take care. Can we all please ensure we check our children’s clothing & if it does not belong to them please return them to school? Can we all ensure that all items of clothing be marked with your child’s name as there are a couple of jackets in the office without names. This will also make it easier to return to the students who own them. Cadbury Chocolate Fundraiser Dear Parents and Carers, There are still monies outstanding for chocolates that were due at the end of Term 3. Please send into the office a.s.a.p. so the P&F can finalise this wonderful fundraiser. Many thanks to everyone that enjoyed the chocolates! Kind Regards Katrina Halliburton Q: Why did the picture go to jail? A: Because it was framed. 2
