ARABIC DEMOCRATIC PARTY – AL HIZB AL- ‘ARABI AL-DIMUCRATI
BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Al Hizb al- ‘Arabi alDimuqrati also known as the
Arabic Democratic Party
(ADP) (Lebanon) emerged in
1972 in Tripoli. The group
was formed by Ali Eid, he
died in 2015 and the group
was retaken by the son of Ali; Rifaat Eid. The
ADP is a pro-Syrian Alewite party, and is known
to be an armed group named the Arab Red
Knights. Their clashes are against the Sunnis
and whoever is against Bashar al Assad, the
Syrian regime and Alewites. The current clashes
and frictions are between the Sunnis of Bab alTabbaneh and the Alewite of Jabal al-Mohsen
that initiated in 2008. The group is re-emerged
when the start of the Syrian civil war erupted in
March 2011. ADP carries out small attacks which
take place only between the front line of Bab alTabbaneh and Jabal al-Mohsen.

TARGETS & TACTICS
The ADP operates with other Shia groups and
provide armed aid, in return ADP receives
weapons, money and man power. The main
target of ADP are the Sunnis in Bab al Tabbaneh
and the so called extreme group Hizb ut-Tahrir.
The Arab Democratic Party are accused of
manhunt, abduction and assassinations against
anti-Syrian groups and members.

Goals: retain protection for Alewites
1. August 2013: two car bombs at two
mosques in Tripoli, killing 47 people

which is mainly Shia oriented. The following
