Unit Rates
Vocabulary:
Rate ­ is a ratio that compares 2 quantities measured in different units
Unit Rate ­ the rate for one unit. Denominator is always 1.
Unit Price ­ a unit rate that gives the cost of 1. Examples:

Finding the Unit Rate:
Rules: Step 1: Set up a rate
Step 2: Divide the 1st quantity by the second quantity.
***Denominator goes on the outside***
Examples:
1. Find the unit rate for 420 Calories in 6 servings.

Using Unit Rates
Rule: Step 1: Set up a Ratio using the Unit Rate
Step 2: Multiply the Unit Rate by number referred too. Example:
A car travels 25 miles on 1 gallon of gas. How far can the car travel on 8 gallons of gas?
