New number ones for this week’s ARIA Charts: James Arthur’s ‘Say You Won’t Let Go’ and Triple J’s Like A Version 12 take over at the top! Singles: Top 5: 1. James Arthur ‘Say You Won’t Let Go’ 2. Seat featuring Kendrick Lamar ‘The Greatest’ Singles Chartifacts: #1: James Arthur ‘Say You Won’t Let Go’ – British singer-songwriter James Arthur scores his first #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart with ‘Say You Won’t Let Go’. The track – the first from Arthur’s forthcoming Back From The Edge album – hits #1 in its fourth week in the top 50 thanks to a jump of two spots. Arthur’s previous chart peak was with ‘Impossible’ (#2 Feb. ’13). ‘Say You Won’t Let Go’ spent two weeks at #1 in the UK. #2: The Weeknd Feat. Daft Punk ‘Starboy’ – Up two spots from last week, ‘Starboy’ levels with ‘Can’t Feel My Face’ (#2 Jul. ’15) as The Weeknd’s highest Singles Chart peak. #10: The Chainsmokers Feat. Phoebe Ryan ‘All We Know’ – They may have lost the #1 this week after a nine week run with ‘Closer’ but The Chainsmokers have scored their fifth top ten after ‘All I Know’ moves up one spot. #12: Bruno Mars ‘24K Magic’ – With the title track and first single from his forthcoming third album, Bruno Mars has picked up his first appearance on the ARIA Singles as a lead artist since 2013. In between his charting with ‘Gorilla’ (#41 Sept. ’13) and now, Mars hit #1 as the featured artist on Mark Ronson’s ‘Uptown Funk’ (#1 Dec. ’14). The album 24K Magic is set for release in November. #26: John Legend ‘Love Me Now’ – American singer-songwriter John Legend scores his second career top 50 appearance as a lead artist with ‘Love Me Now’. It’s the lead single from the forthcoming album Darkness And Light. Legend first charted in the top 50 with ‘All Of Me’ (#1 Dec. ’13). He most recently appeared as the featured artist on Meghan Trainor’s ‘Like I'm Gonna Lose You’ (#1 Jun. ’15). Albums: Top 5: 1. Various ‘Triple J's Like A Version 12’ (debut) 2. Soundtrack ‘Suicide Squad: The Album’ Albums Chartifacts: #1: Various ‘Triple J's Like A Version 12’ (debut) – Triple J's Like A Version 12 becomes the fourth consecutive release in the Like A Version series to debut at #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart. The two-disc, 39 track collection includes Tame Impala covering Kylie Minogue, Sarah Blasko covering David Bowie, Alpine covering Ben Lee, The Rubens covering Kendrick Lamar and Adele, plus more. The previous three Like A Version #1s were with Triple J's Like A Version 9 (#1 Oct. '13), Triple J's Like A Version 10 (#1 Oct. '14) and Triple J's Like A Version 11 (#1 Oct. '15). #2: Green Day ‘Revolution Radio’ (debut) – Four years on from the release of the Uno! (#3 Oct. ’12) Dos! (#10 Nov. ’12) and Tre! (#22 Dec. ’12) trilogy of albums, Green Day returns with Revolution Radio. The band’s twelfth album is their second #2, following 21st Century Breakdown (#2 May ’09). #3: Barry Gibb: ‘In The Now’ (debut) – Bee Gees legend Barry Gibb makes his solo ARIA Albums Chart debut with In The Now. It’s Gibb’s second solo album – his debut, Now Voyager, was released in 1984 – and his first release of original material since the final Bee Gees studio album This Is Where I Came In(#16 Apr. ’01). #4: Norah Jones ‘Day Breaks’ (debut) – The first solo album in four years from Norah Jones. The follow-up to Little Broken Hearts (#5 May ’12) is the American singer-songwriter’s sixth album under her own name. In between solo releases, Jones released the album No Fools, No Fun as a member of alt-country trio Puss N Boots, as well as the Everly Brothers tribute Foreverly with Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong. #6: Alter Bridge ‘The Last Hero’ (debut) – Album five from Alter Bridge gives the American band their fourth appearance in the ARIA top 50.
