December 24, 2014 Maribel Lena, (305) 470-5349 [email protected] County Road 941 (Boca Chica Road) 0.6 Miles East at Mile Marker (MM) 10.7 on State Road (SR) 5/US-1/Overseas Highway Bridge Repair Project begins in January Monroe County – During the week of January 5, 2015, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will begin a bridge repair project on the small bridge leading to Geiger Key which is 0.6 miles east of SR 5/Overseas Highway on County Road 941 (Boca Chica Road) at MM 10.7. The project will cost an estimated $631,000. This work is scheduled to last about four months and includes repairs to supporting structures and the bridge deck, corrosion protection to extend the life of the bridge, and improved pavement markings. To complete this project safely, it may be necessary to close one travel lane on the bridge. Traffic will be managed by personnel or by a temporary signal. One lane of traffic will always be open.
