A new collection of furniture and home accessories
slowly comes to life. Each piece is a celebration of doing
things at the right pace: thinking through all of the
details with careful, attentive eyes, and savouring the
process. Quality can’t be rushed. Natural, tactile materials,
and craftsmanship by skilled hands — these all take time
to grow and perfect. This is the result.

CAREFULLY CURATED
The first STOCKHOLM collection was launched in 1984.
Each new collection is different from previous ones, but
they all share some common characteristics: Scandinavian
modernity of the highest quality in form, function and
materials — but at an affordable price.
This STOCKHOLM launch is no different. It’s a carefully
curated collection of 47 pieces, designed to mix and blend
with what you already have at home and made from
natural and tactile materials such as rattan, hand-blown
glass and ash. Swedish light and nature has been an
important source of inspiration.
Part of the beauty is that all of the pieces have been
made to use and enjoy, every day. These are pieces that
will be in your life for many years to come.

SLOWLY, PERFECTLY
The world seems to be moving fast: we travel, shop,
communicate, socialise, work, consume, cook and eat
at a faster pace than ever before thanks to quick, accessible
and seamless technology. Instant gratification has become
the norm, and we expect everything to happen right now.
At the same time, one in three thinks that wellness means
consciously slowing down and recharging, and 36% would
like to take more time for things in their daily life (read more
on page 13).
The new STOCKHOLM collection brings forward and
celebrates the opposite of this fast-paced world — the quality
and values that come out of both making things slower and
living more slowly. In recent years, “slow living” has become a
worldwide phenomenon that includes everything from parenting
and cooking to fashion.

HANDMADE FOR THE MANY
At IKEA we love the handmade — items that have been
carefully crafted with a human touch, down to the final
detail. But we also love making our products available
to as many people as possible: otherwise, it wouldn’t
be IKEA.
Through the new STOCKHOLM collection runs that handmade, personal touch. In Sweden, hand-blown glass — the
traditional way of crafting glass — is part of our heritage,
and in the collection we’re proud to have a selection
of carafes, bowls and serving plates.

Rattan is another tactile, natural material that we’ve used
in the new STOCKHOLM collection. It’s a material that’s
gotten us really excited — so much so that one of our
designers travelled to the factory in Indonesia to collaborate
with the local craftspeople ensuring the best possible
quality. During the process we’ve fallen in love with this
fascinating, sustainable and durable material. The result can be seen in the STOCKHOLM armchair as
well as in the coffee table and cabinet that mixes rattan
with blond ash.
