In the Bible, we read why Easter is celebrated today.
Many people loved the things that Jesus did and said. But some people hated Jesus because he
showed them that they cared more about
themselves than God or others.
Some women who were good friends with Jesus,
went to visit his tomb. They were very sad, but in for
a big surprise.
Help Jesus' friends find the tomb.

When the women got to the tomb, the guards were gone. The stone had been rolled away. But most surprising
of all - they saw an angel there!
The angel said to the women, "Don't be afraid! I know you are
looking for Jesus, who was nailed to a cross. He isn't here! God has
raised him to life, just as Jesus said he would.”

“Come, see the place where his body was lying. Now hurry! Tell his disciples that he has been raised to life and is
on his way to Galilee. Go there, and you will see him." (MATT 28:5-7 CEV)
The women were very afraid and very happy at the same time.
They ran to tell their friends what they had seen and heard.

Jesus met the women as they left the tomb. They fell
down and worshipped him. They were excited to tell their
friends that Jesus was alive.
