1 Samuel 18:1-4
A revolutionary look at the story you thought you
knew. You think you know what happened – beatings,
betrayals, mockery, a cross, some nails, and death. But
that’s just the surface of the story. What if you could
get past the commonly recognized pieces of the account
that tells how and why Jesus Christ died – the story
everyone thinks he or she already understands? What
if you could discover the heart, humanity, emotion, and
meaning of Jesus’ every encounter along the way from
Gethsemane to Golgotha?
Noted Bible teacher Rick Renner draws a brilliant
backdrop to the passion of Jesus Christ, interjecting
fresh insights into the human and divine drama that
took place in Jerusalem more that 2,000 years ago.
Facebook and Twitter is one of the most amazing
inventions of our time. It allows one to connect with
friends and family via the internet. We can follow
their day, see what they are thinking and planning for
the day. The problem with social media is that it
causes us to divest emotionally and the real
relationship suffers.
Social media is creating
transactional relationships not transformational.
Relationships are critical in all of our pursuits of life,
physically, emotionally, financially and yes spiritually.
The question is this, are your relationships
transactional or transformational?
Transactional
relationships are shallow, impersonal, have a defined
end in mind, when the stated needs are met.
Transformational relationships are relationships that
have a foundation built on love, respect and a desire to
reciprocate what has been received in the relationship.
Transformational relationships change lives. They are
sacrificial. Transformational relationships look out for
the interests of others.
In transformational
relationships are make change possible, for all involved.

for Jesus Christ through the

coaches.
FCA Mission
To present to athletes and
coaches and all whom they

adventure of receiving
Jesus Christ as Savior and
Lord, serving Him in their
relationships and in the
fellowship of the church.
In the story of David and Jonathan we find a
transformational relationship. We find two friends
who love each other dearly, who trust each other and
who look out for each other. In fact the story reveals
that from a positional perspective Jonathan was the
king’s son, he was the next in line to be the king.
Jonathan however, saw something in David and
encouraged him to be all that God called him to be,
even if it meant he would not be the next king. That is
a transformational relationship. That is putting one’s
ego and ambitions aside for someone else. Wow!
That sounds like what Jesus did on the cross! He put
His needs aside for our needs.

May we all review our relationships and ask ourselves
are they transactional or transformational? Let us go
deeper in the relationships that God has given us.

Romans 10:9
If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,”
and believe in your heart that God raised him
from the dead, you will be saved.
Woodmore High School in Elmore, OH had a school assembly with Joel Penton. Later that night he shared
his testimony with 75 students that came for a concert. Joel told us that 32 students indicated on a
comment card that they had made a decision to receive Christ. One student professed that she was an
atheist and didn’t believe a word he had said. He asked her to read his book; she later emailed him and
said that she believed that Jesus was God and that He died for her sins, she is now a Believer!

FCA and Summa Health System held a breakfast on April 13 for the University of Akron
Football program. There were over 200 in attendance which included several football players,
coaches, and community leaders. Bobby Bowden shared his heart as well as his sons Terry and
Tommy Bowden. 58 souls were saved that morning; most of which were from the University
of Akron Football program.

On Sunday April 22 , Cleveland FCA had their 2 annual Huddle Showdown. Last year they
had 140 students attend and this year they were anticipating 200-250; there were 350 kids
who attended and competed against each other in various challenges. Every student had
enough to eat and there were no leftovers; God provided exactly what was needed. The kids
were asked to fill out a comment card; 84 students indicated that they had made the decision
to accept Christ as their Savior! To God be the Glory…great job Sam, Pam, and Beth.
Charleston, WV hosted their Weekend of Champions in April. They had 80 kids attend for
fun, food and fellowship. There were 31 kids who indicated that they had made a decision
to accept Christ as their Savior. Praise God.
