Connection:
In our previous session, we set goals to read selected novels that will
help improve the quality of our reading habits, develop and strengthen
individual skills, and improve our ability to respond through discussion,
writing, and various tasks.
Additionally, with in the partnerships, we assigned reading tasks,
determined which "background" investigation tool to use to support, as
well as ONE Internet resource to reference throughout the reading of
the novel.

THE UNUSUAL VENUS FLYTRAP
~Amy Baker
The Venus flytrap is a unique plant with
many admirers. This carnivorous plant grows
in the bogs of North America. With redlined
lobes that resemble a mouth, the Venus
flytrap looks more like a creature than a
plant. It uses these lobes to capture and eat
insects. It can even digest small frogs! The
lobes have small trigger hairs that cause the
plant to clamp down in an instant when
unsuspecting prey come too close. Fingerlike
extensions called cilia intertwine the lobes
shut tight. It is this trapping action that
people find so fascinating.
