Dear Members:
The 2017 Edwin W. Lawrence Memorial Member-Guest Golf Tournament will be held on Friday,
June 16th through Sunday, June 18th. There will be a 2-man Best ball Net event on June 15th. Tee
times for the 2-man Best ball Net and practice rounds must be made in advance through the Pro
Shop.
Applications, schedule of events and tournament information sheets are attached and are also
available in the Pro Shop. Applications must be received by the Pro Shop before 6:00 PM on
Thursday, June 1st, 2017. It is important that your application be fully completed. The tournament
is open to all members including Fareway and Corporate Members.
The Tournament Committee would like to acknowledge with gratitude, Jerry Sanborn, for donating
the sponsor’s board that adorns the front of the clubhouse during the tournament and weeks
following.

Flights: The field will be pre-qualified in flights by handicap. All flights will consist of 6 teams
depending on the number of teams.
Participants: The tournament is limited to 72 teams. All applications must be received by the Pro Shop
before 6:00 PM on Thursday, June 1, 2017.
Matches: All flights will play 9- hole matches using the point system. (1 point for each hole won; no
points for each tie; -1 point for a lost hole; and 1 point for the winner of the match. The most points any
team can win per match is 5. The most any team can lose is –4 points.) The winners of each flight will
participate in a Shootout following the completion of play on Sunday. In case of teams tying for the flight
title, the deadlock will be broken by (1) mutual match; (2) highest point total in a match; (3) highest point
total in final match. The Shootout format is at the discretion of the Committee or its designee.
Handicaps: For flight seeding, no team will be allowed to have greater than 8 strokes difference between
partners’ handicaps. If such an occurrence arises, the committee will adjust the handicaps accordingly
before seeding. Any teams winning last year will be placed in a higher flight this year.
Prizes: At the conclusion of play on Sunday, June 18th, Pro Shop credit will be awarded in all flights.
In addition, there will be additional prizes for several contests. These contests are all included in the team
entry. There will also be a car for the first hole-in-one during Friday’s round Sponsored by Alderman’s.
IMPORTANT NOTICE
A participant or team that fails to appear for a designated tee time is subject to disciplinary action by
the respective Tournament Committee through the Board of Governors.
INFORMATION AND SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

June 1 . . . Deadline for applications (including entry fee) to be submitted to the Pro Shop
June 8 . . . Deadline for withdrawal from the tournament. Withdrawal after this date may cause
forfeiture of your entry fee if no alternates are available.
June 11 thru June 15. Course is available for a practice round. Please schedule through the Pro
Shop, a minimum of one day in advance. Guest need not play with his partner.
June 15 . . . There will be a 2-man Best Ball Net one day event. Teams must be comprised of your
Member-Guest Team. Please indicate your desire to participate on your application and schedule
your tee time with the pro shop.
Social Activities: A free putting contest on the practice green from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. with
payouts for first, second, and third. The pre-tournament social will begin at 7:00 p.m. with
Appetizer’s and chicken wings from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 pm.
June 16 . . . All flights will play two 9-hole matches. Closest to the pin contest will be on holes 3, 5,
12 and 15. Social Activities: Barbecue for participants begins at 5:00 p.m. Non-participants are
welcome at a charge of $25.00 per person.
June 17 . . . All flights will play two 9-hole matches. Social Activities: Dinner and Dance (D.J.).
Cocktails from 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.; Dinner from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.; Dancing 9:00 p.m. –
12:00. Participants are free of charge. Guests will be charged $29.00 per person for dinner.
June 18 . . . Shotgun start for all flights. All flights will play two 9-hole matches. Following play,
the winners of all flights will participate in a Shootout. Social Activities: Awards and light fare
following conclusion of all matches to be served on the porch, so you can watch the playoffs!

Please make sure your application is fully completed. Checks are to be made payable to “R.C.C. –
Lawrence” and in the amount of $290.00. The tournament is open to all members including Fareway
Members.
Sponsor: If anyone would like to be a sponsor of this year’s tournament, please contact the office or
one of the Committee members. The cost to be a sponsor is $250. Sponsors and a Guest are invited
to join the barbeque on Friday and the dinner/dance on Saturday at no charge. Sponsors will receive
2 greens fees (restricted to weekdays and weekend afternoons, cart rental required) to the Rutland
Country Club. Members may charge their account by calling Becky at 773-7061. Kindly indicate
how you would like your name to appear on the Sponsor Board.
