What is a Quarter Auction/Vendor Fair?

What is a Quarter Auction/Vendor Fair?
We are excited about our upcoming Quarter Auction/Vendor Fair! If you don’t know what a Quarter
Auction is, you are not alone! Read the following information to better prepare you and your friends
for the event.
What is a Quarter Auction?
The Quarter Auction is Page’s biggest fund raiser this year! In essence it is a chance to win great
prizes while making a donation to the school’s technology fund. There will be over 50 prizes to win!
How does the Quarter Auction work?
When you arrive, you’ll first rent your bid paddles. The paddles are 2 for $5 if you RSVP ahead of
time. At the door, the paddle price is 1 for $5, so please RSVP when your child brings home the
information! Additional paddles are available for purchase at $2 per paddle. When you rent your
paddle(s), a ping pong ball matching your paddle number will go into a draw container used to
draw winning numbers throughout the event. Paddles are returned at the end of the event to be
used in future quarter auctions.
When the auction begins, each auction item will be presented and auctioned, one by one. You will
use your quarters and paddles to bid, but no fear! You do not try to out-bid others, but rather bid
the requested number of quarters (typically 1-2) on the item for a chance to win that item!
The retail value of the item determines the number of quarters required per paddle to bid.
Items you are bidding. Items in the auction range from ($15-$100)
Once you drop the required number of quarters per paddle into bowls on the table (*which will
then be collected) you raise you can raise your paddle in the air. The announcer will begin drawing
numbers from the ping pong balls matching the rented paddles. If the announcer calls your number
and you had placed the bid, you win! If the number called wasn’t played, numbers continue to be
pulled until a number is called for someone who had bid and had their paddle in the air! Then on to
the next auction item.
If this all sounds complicated, have no worries….we will do a few practice rounds before we start
at the event! Once we get going, it is super easy, moves fast and is a ton of fun!
What kind of prizes will there be?
Our vendors who are participating in the Vendor Fair have graciously donated several items that
will be up for bid. We have vendors from Thirty-One, Avon, Premier Jewelry, Scentsy, Gifts by Pisa,
Pampered Chef, Mary Kay, Pink Zebra, Chloe and Isabel Jewelry-to name a few. We also have gift
cards to many local and chain establishments, yummy treats, movie tickets, floral arrangements,
and fantastic seasonal items, such as Thanksgiving and Holiday Baskets. Our list of prizes is growing
each day!
What is the Vendor Fair?
This event is being held the weekend that holiday shopping begins! Perfect timing as we will have
all of the above vendors (and more by the time of the event) with items to be purchased….or
better yet, book a home party with them where you can earn free and half price products!
How much money will I need to bring?
That is up to you! Admission is $5. On average, bidding on every item with one paddle is usually
around a $15-$20 donation. Keep in mind, you may not bid on every item…..or you may bid twice
with 2 paddles. Bring a supply of or roll of quarters. We will have a quarter exchange station.
Can I bring friends and family?
ABSOLUTELY! An afternoon of fun is a great way to support your child’s school! If you RSVP with a
table of 6, we will reserve the table for you! PLEASE NOTE…..this event is not intended for
children/students. There is no babysitting service or children’s activities.
Will there be food?
There will be a concession stand where you may purchase snacks. The proceeds will go to the
school’s technology funds.
