Branson Trip
Our Fall Golf Trip to Branson was
a big hit! Nineteen members made
the trip and were ecstatic about the
quality of courses
we played.
Highlights of
the trip were
Francie’s “2nd
Chance Hole-InOne” and Frank’s
birthday. Francie’s first tee
shot, on the
Par 3 at
Rivercut (I believe it was #13), went in the water.
She teed up another one and put it
in the hole – for an unofficial HoleIn-One!
Where did all the golfing go? The
fall colors are here, the weather has
been great, and the leaves are beautiful (when they are not hiding golf balls
or waiting to be picked up).
I was disappointed that I could not
attend the Halloween outing hosted
by Debbie Gauss, (the last club outing
of the year). By all accounts I have
heard, it was a huge success.
One of the highlights of our club’s
social calendar is the annual dinner
dance, to be held this year at Hallbrook Country Club. This is a “must
attend”event, don’t miss it!
Please keep our fellow member
Jack Moore in your thoughts and
prayers as he battles cancer.
Congratulations (again) to Larry
Maddox, our 2006 vice president. I
know Larry will do a great job!
The committee chair elections will
be held at the November monthly
meeting on the 17th - golf, membership, social and communications.
Those elected will be a part of Paul
Lamson’s team to guide our club next
year. Ask yourself what you can do
for the club – if not a chair position,
then a support role as a committee
member.
I understand that social events for
2006 are already being planned, get
ready for another fun year with KC
Singles Golf! Spread the good word
about our club, and bring a guest!
Halloween Golf Outing
The 2nd Annual Halloween Golf
Outing/Chili Party was held on Saturday, October 29th at Falcon Ridge
Golf Club. A warm, breezy autumn
day greeted 28 KCSGA members and
guests. Participation was up this
year, so the word has gotten out.
Who says dressing up for Halloween
is just for kids??? I imagine some are
already planning their costume for
next year. Prizes were given for the
following:
Fantasy Ball:
Jim Ungerer
Barbara Rowland
Paul Lamson
Golf Trivia:
Gary Frazier
Anita Mooney
Francie Marshall
Best Halloween Costume:
Debbie Gauss (Dressed as a
“Titleist” Golf Ball)

Membership
We always need to get new members, so be looking for possible candidates and bring them to meetings and
functions. And remember to put the
Yellow sheets (you can get them at
meetings or in your renewal package) up at golf courses, golf shops,
grocery stores, your workplace,
etc. According to National, this is a
very successful way to bring attention
to the Club. The cards and brochures
are available at meetings, too. Also, if
you are interested in being next year's
Membership Chairman, please let any
Board member know you are interested!

man's bag and a large rifle. Again,
the businessman was surprised but
decided to ask no questions.
"Sure," said the Pro, "What's YOUR
handicap?"
They arrived at the 1st hole, a par 4.
"Please avoid those trees on the
left," said the caddy. Needless to
say, the businessman duckhooked his ball into the
trees. He found his ball
and was about
to punch it out
when he
heard the loud
crack of the rifle
and a large snake
fell dead from a
tree above his head.
The caddy stood next to
him with the rifle smoking
in
his hand. "That's the mamba, the
most poisonous snake in all Africa;
you're lucky I was here with you."
A businessman was attending a conference in Africa. He had a free day
and
wanted to play a round of golf. He
was directed to a golf course in the
nearby jungle. After a short journey,
he arrived at the course and asked
the
pro if he could get on.
Not wanting to admit that he had an
18 handicap, he decided to cut it a bit.
"Well, its 16," said the businessman,
"But what's the relevance since I'll
be playing alone?"
"It's very important for us to know,"
said the pro who then called a caddy.
"Go out with this gentleman," said the
pro, "his handicap is 16." The businessman was very surprised at this
constant reference to his handicap.
The caddy picked up the business-
After taking a bogey, they moved to
the 2nd hole, a par 5. "Avoid those
bushes on the right," says the
caddy.
Of course, the businessman's ball
went straight into the bushes. As he
went to pick up his ball, he heard the
loud crack of the caddy's rifle once
more and a huge lion fell dead at his
feet. "I've saved your life again," said
the caddy.
The 3rd hole was a par 3 with a lake
in front of the green. The businessman's ball came up just short of
the green and rolled back to
the edge of the water. To take a
shot, he had to stand with one
foot in the lake. As he
was about to swing, a
large crocodile emerged
from the water and bit off
much of his right leg. As he
fell to the ground bleeding and in
great pain, he saw the caddy with the
rifle propped at his side, looking on
unconcernedly.
"Why didn't you kill it?" asked the man
incredulously.
"I'm sorry, sir," said the caddy, "this is
the 17th handicap hole and you
don't get a shot here"
