Grade TAG
Reading
We will continue to work in our William and
Mary, Beyond Words Curriculum. Next up, is
Peer Editing our Writing, Haiku Poetry and
Personification. We will continue with our our
unit novel, Frindle by Andrew Clements.
The Unit Research Project guidelines were
sent home. Students should continue their
interviews and begin working on their final
display.
Remember to monitor at home reading to
ensure reading logs are completed and books
are being finished to reach our reading goals!
Reading logs are due every Monday.

Writing
We are continuing our Writing Fundamentals
Unit – Personal Narratives. We will publish
these writing pieces this month.
We have begun to use The Hamburger Model
to organize our ideas when it comes to
persuasive writing.
Social Studies
We will finish Our Nation in the past and
present. We will begin to learn about states in
the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic.

Math
We are finishing our chapter on measurements
of customary units as well as centimeters,
meters, etc. Afterwards we will be working on
identifying geometric figures based on their
sides, angles, and lines.
Every Friday we will be having “Think Tank
Friday!” This is a TAG specific program which
will be challenging and developing their
critical thinking skills involving different types
of shapes and patterns.

Science
We will begin a new chapter on Forces and
Motion. We will be conducting experiments
and projects in regards to the subject. Students
will be focusing on five major questions being:
How do objects move?
What is work?
How can you change the way things
move?
How can simple machines help you do
work?
What are magnets?

Reading
We will continue to work with our William and
Mary, Journeys and Destinations Curriculum.
We will finish our unit novel, The Green Book
by Jill Patton Walsh and complete a book
project.
The Unit Research Project is required for
