Week 20 Newsletter 03/03/2017 Behaviour – Traffic Lights At the Academy we use a traffic light system to warn children if their behaviour is not of the acceptable standard. The aim is for the children to stay in green. For children to display green behaviour; they would be in the right place, at the right time, doing the right thing. The totals below show many children have achieved this each week. This week 359 out of 361 children have stayed in Green. Well Done! We have been working hard on our capacity skills in Maths and used real life containers to help us with our reasoning. Then, in spelling we used our dictionary skills to find the meaning of lots of different words and checked whether they were spelt correctly. Leopards -@EstcourtYear3 Sharks - @EstcourtSharks We have been really resilient in the Meerkats this week! In Maths we worked on a range of decimals as we had to add decimals with 3 decimals places. Then in spelling we worked on our possessive apostrophe skills and used the pyramid method to help us to spell a range of homophones. Well done Meerkats! Another fantastic week in Year 1! Lions and Penguins have started the ‘We are Hull’ topic and are very excited to learn all about Amy Johnson. In Writing lessons, we have been writing a recount using capital letters for names, days and months. We have also shown resilience in Maths when solving addition and subtraction number problems. Lions - @EstcourtYear1 Penguins - @EstcourtYr1 This week… Due to all the fabulous entries, judging the winners of our recent Art and Design competition proved tough. Finally, we have been able to whittle it down to four entries. In KS1 the winner is Jack, for his fabulous representation of Queens Gardens. In a close second place, Elliot's depiction of The Deep. Lily-Mae and Zoe combined to win the KS2 competition with an intricate model, while Martha challenged them with her recycled representation to claim the runners up spot. A big well done to all of the amazing entries! Meerkats @EstcourtYear4n5 A very busy week in the Eagles classroom! We worked particularly hard by designing wonderful and inspiring badges representing what we love about Hull: Our City Of Culture. We worked diligently on our sewing skills to produce to badges. As well as this we have been learning all about the reproduction system in plants. Eagles-@EstcourtYear6 We have worked really hard in the Spiders and Frogs. We were creative and worked on a range of different ideas in the Lego corner. Then, in Topic we have made some fantastic pieces of Art and Writing for our learning gallery! F2 - @EstcourtFS2 This week Year Two have been working on their money skills! We looked at a range of coins and what the value of each of them is! Then in Music we worked on our ukulele skills as we learnt how to read music and how to use this to play a tune. Also, we are really proud of all the amazing pieces of Hull homework we received this week! Ladybirds @EstcourtYear_2 Butterflies - @EstcourtYear2 This week we had a great time celebrating world book day! We used sketching skills to replicate Alice In Wonderland illustrations, created Charlie and the chocolate factory maps in PE and even made Harry Potter wands in DT! Also, we have started a new times table game in class and love battling for the top of the leader board! Panthers - @EstcourtYear4 In Computing this week we kicked off World Book day by conducting a whole class research project to discover who the most popular authors are in each year group. In groups we created a data base and have shown our results in different graphs which we have used to create and answer our own statistic questions for Mathematics. In Science we have been busy experimenting again but this time with liquids. Another super week for the Tigers! Tigers - @EstcourtYear_5 RED NOSE DAY 2017 Red Nose Day is on Friday 24th March.
