What’s My Number? Grade Level (s): Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd OVERVIEW Students will reinforce the concept of greater than/less than and stimulate higher order thinking and number sense. OBJECTIVE Given a greater than or less than statement, the students will be able to eliminate numbers on a number line to determine an unknown number with 95% accuracy. K.1.2 STANDARDS Compare sets of up to ten objects and identify whether one set is equal to, more than, or less than another. MATERIALS PROCEDURE EVALUATION Access to Zoho Noteboook Draw a number line from 0 to 25 on ZOHO notebook Label each number Tell the students you are thinking of a number between 0 and 25 They are to ask questions in order to find out what the number is The questions must be in the format of, Is it greater than/Is it less than? Answer the questions yes or no, then indicate which numbers are eliminated by the questions Simply use the line tool to eliminate possible answers Encourage the students to ask questions which will eliminate the most possible numbers No guessing is permitted at first The students may guess specific numbers only after the field has been narrowed down to 5 numbers Students will answer on their own in the application then share notebooks with classmates to evaluate each other.
