"SENSE AND SENSIBILITY AND MR. DARCY AND

TEETH
A "SENSE AND SENSIBILITY AND MR. DARCY AND SHARKS IN SPACE RIDING
MOTORCYCLES PLUS THERE IS A TIME MACHINE" STORY
By Karen A
"Excuse me, but I do not believe we have been introduced."
"Fitzwilliam Darcy, sir." The man with the excellent teeth answered.
Although it was rather rude, Brandon thought it best not to offer the man his hand. He looked
almost as if he would bite it off.
"Colonel Brandon. This is my house."
"Brandon, that name sounds somewhat familiar. You say you own the estate?"
"Yes, Delaford." Even though the man seemed polite enough there was something about him (his
teeth especially) that worried Brandon, he didn't seem quite normal.
"Ehm, might I enquire as to what are you doing here sir?"
"Excuse me, I was wondering if…." Darcy was interrupted by the sound of Edward Ferrars
approaching.
"Brandon! What is that thing in your yard? Have you brought it from London? What does it do? I
know you were looking into new instruments for Marianne, but I see no way of getting any
music out of that. I did see some kind of pipe though. Is it some sort of organ?" As he walked into
the room he spotted the sharp teethed gentleman."Oh I am sorry. I didn't know you had a
visitor."
"Mr Darcy may I introduce my brother Mr Edward Ferrars. Edward, this is Fitzwilliam Darcy."
The gentlemen nodded.
"You said there was some kind of instrument in the yard?" Brandon asked Ferrars.
"Oh, that would be mine." Darcy said. "I am sorry to be so forward, but would it be possible for
me to get some water?"
Noticing that Darcy was looking a bit unwell Brandon ordered his butler to fetch the man a glass.
"Actually, I need a bit more than that."
The first bucket that was brought he threw over himself. Ah, at least I can think straight again. He
thought.
He had been so dehydrated that it had been difficult to think. And think he must. Because he
needed to get back home. His Lizzy was waiting.
It had all been a stupid idea anyway. But she had so desperately wanted to have a new book. And
he would do anything for her. So he went. But now he had been on dry land for way too long. He
decided the book about monster trucks would have to do. If he had only figured out this new
model of the time machine sooner. Maybe then he would have been to 1811 straight away,
instead of walking (which was awkward enough by itself) around in 2011 first. Maybe then he
would have a copy of Lord Byron instead of "Monstertrucks, how cool are those!". And now it
was too late. His skin was getting dryer by the minute. There was no more time to go in search of
a library.
He thanked the people at Delaford and jumped on his "organ"/ TTMB 8.6 hybrid.
"Darling, how was it?" Lizzy asked, while lovingly pecking him on the labial furrows.
"Honey, watch out with my spiracle. I have enough trouble catching my breath as it is."
"It is a shame I couldn't join you. I would have loved to see the "old" world again. How was it?"
"Very beautiful, my dearest. Very beautiful. But it is too heavy on your body to stay dry for an
extended period of time, especially as we get older." He said, while lovingly stroking the wrinkles
on her snout with his pectoral fin.
"Did you bring some reading with you?" Lizzy asked, thinking it high time for a subject change.
He handed her the book.
Lizzy looked up surprised. "Monstertrucks?"
"Yes, well. It was too late to get Lord Byron. And this was plasticized." Darcy said dryly.
"What do you mean too late? Honey did you mess up with the TTMB again?"
"No. Well, you see this model is different from the old one."
"You mixed up the ages again!"
"It works differently!" Darcy defended himself. "I tried to fine tune it with the brake!"
"All the TTMB models work the same. Only when the Time Traveling Motor Bike was just
invented you adjusted the age with the brake, honey. The world wasn't even fully aquatized
then! Climate changes were still going on!"
"You make me feel old" Darcy grunted.
"You are old. So am I. We were lucky evolution was kind on us."
