IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE YOUR FIELD TRIP: Bring

IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE YOUR FIELD TRIP:
Bring a check made payable to “Steed’s Dairy” with you the day of your
field trip (or if necessary for you, multiple checks is fine if there are several
classes or grade levels). We will provide you with a receipt. Please ask your
chaperones to bring EXACT CHANGE ($6.00).
Please arrive between 9:30 and 9:45. The program will begin at 10:00. If
you arrive late, you may have to skip some activities.
There is an open field designated for parking, so the busses should not have
any difficulties.
When you arrive, please send the teachers off the bus first so that we can
go over what to do next.
We will help unload your lunches and bring them to the picnic area.
Classes will be taken to a start point for further instructions. Groups will
consist of no more than 100 children- these will be sub-divided into 2
groups for some of the events.
Teachers will be given a rotation schedule and a bell schedule-please keep
your class together as you rotate to each station. Each station lasts
approximately 20 minutes. We ask that a teacher or chaperone is always
monitoring the students, but this is particularly important on the jumping
pillow and giant slide. On the jumping pillow, please ensure that the
students remove their shoes and that there is no flipping or rough housing.
On the slide, a chaperone or Steed’s employee is required to be at the top
at all times while your students are sliding.
We will keep classrooms together, but large groups of more than 100 from
one school will be divided, so please pack your lunches by classrooms, as
your lunch times will vary according to your rotation schedule.
Please inform your chaperones that no siblings are permitted to attend. In
our experience, chaperones that bring other children are not able to
sufficiently chaperone the other students. Also, please try to limit how
many chaperones from one household attend. While we understand some
may have 2 per child, any more than that creates difficulties with how
many are able to ride the hayride, eat lunch, etc, at one time.
In the event of inclement weather, field trips will be rescheduled. If
weather is an issue, please call us the night before if possible or the
morning of to check the weather at our farm and to go over rescheduling
options. Please call Judy directly on her cell at (706) 829-5334 as someone
may not be in the office to return your call. Also, we will post any field trip
cancellations on our Facebook page, so you may tell parents to check it if
the weather looks questionable.
We recommend closed-toe shoes and play clothes. Also, because everyone
must remove their shoes for the jumping pillow and corn pit, we
recommend easy-to-remove shoes (i.e. no high tops with lots of laces). If it
is hot on the day of your visit, the jumping pillow may get hot, so we
recommend socks. The children will be playing hard and doing a lot of
walking around, so it might not be a bad idea to pack an extra cooler of
juice or water. Water station is provided.
Please do not use safety pins to attach name tags to the students. If you do
so, you will have to remove them to jump on the jumping pillow (we don’t
want any holes : ).
We anticipate that Field Trips will last 3hrs. Everyone will need a sack lunch
and drinks. Our concessions will be not be open during field trips.
If you have any problems, questions or concerns the day before or the day
of the trip, please contact Judy Rawlins (706) 829-5334 (cell). This number
is for your convenience. Please do not distribute it to parents.
