Winnipeg Region Population Counts
(March 22, 2012)
The Winnipeg region of Manitoba recorded a moderate increase in population and was
responsible for just over half of the provincial growth. According to Statistics Canada, the
population of the Winnipeg region totaled 666,832 in May 2011, up 30,655 (4.8%) over the
2006 count. The city of Winnipeg accounted for 98.4% of the regional growth. The RM of
Headingley, however, reported a significant percent increase.
The population of Winnipeg city totaled 663,617 in May 2011, an increase of 30,166 people, or
4.8% over the 2006 count. The RM of Headingley added an additional 489 residents (17.9%)
to reach 3,215 in May 2011.
