Onshore wind farm Høg-Jæren.
Wind power from Norway.
Jæren Energi AS, in which ewz (Zurich Municipal Electric Utility) has a 20 percent interest
through its subsidiary ewz (Deutschland) GmbH, has implemented a wind farm in Norway with
32 wind turbines.
The wind farm Høg-Jæren is located around 50 kilometers south
of the seaport Stavanger. The area at an altitude of 250 meters
above sea level is approximately 12 kilometers away from the
Norwegian west coast. The first 26 turbines were put into service in mid 2011, the additional six turbines in November 2012.
Each of the 32 turbines of the type of Siemens SWT-2.3-93 has
a power output of 2.3 megawatts (MW), the total installed capacity amounts to 73.6 MW.
Power production.
During the early years of operation the expected power production was fully reached or even significantly exceeded. In 2012
received turbine T02 the «Wind-Oscar» in the Norwegian competition «Wind Warrior of the Year» for the best power performance. For the yearly power production of approx. 220 gigawatt
hours (GWh) in 2013 and 2014 the wind farm Høg-Jæren received
the «Wind Oscar» as most productive wind farm again. This
shows that because of its excellent wind conditions the region
on the Norwegian coast belongs to the best locations
Europe-wide for the production of wind power.
Jæren Energi AS.
Jæren Energi AS is a project company with four shareholders.
Through its subsidiary ewz (Deutschland) GmbH, ewz has a
20 percent interest in the company. Main shareholder is the Japanese Eurus Energy group with a share of 66 percent. The two
project developers Norsk Vind Pro AS and Norsk Vind Energi
AS own 7 percent each.

Strategy of ewz.
ewz and its owner – the city of Zurich – pursue the scenario of major expansion of new renewable energies, in particular wind and solar energy. Its acquisition will mainly take
part in foreign countries. Until 2020 ewz will increase its
annual production of new renewable energies of 1200 GWh.
This corresponds to around 40 percent of the electricity
consumed in the city of Zurich today. The goal of ewz is to
expand its wind energy portfolio up to an annual production of 2300 GWh by 2050.
