The Coherent-DEOS RF-excited EOM-10
laser system brings short-pulse, high pulserepetition-frequency (PRF) capability to the
scientific/aerospace/industrial user in a
compact package. Ruggedized for the most
severe environments, it is the standard of the
industry for demanding field applications.
The EOM-10 features an efficient foldedresonator design contained within an
all-metal housing. Metal seals insure both long
operational and shelf lifetimes. This short-pulse
unit uses a patented intracavity, electro-optic
modulation technique to produce short optical
pulses with widths of less than 15 nanoseconds
Full Width Half Maximum (FWHM) and a PRF
variable from 0 Hz to 100 kHz. The pulsed
output produces multi-kilowatt peak power
optical pulses, yielding a rated average power
of 10W at 100 kHz PRF. An option also enables
the same unit to operate in a continuous-wave
(CW) mode with an average output power that
exceeds 20 watts.
The EOM-10 laser system consists of two
modules: A laser head module and a control/
power supply (C/PS) module. The laser head
module includes the gain cell, resonator optics,
EO modulator driver system and cavity-tuning
PZT in a sealed metal housing. The rackmountable C/PS module contains the control
electronics, RF power supply, associated DC
power supplies, safety interlocks and key
switch.
The two modules are connected with a rugged
cable system available in standard or custom
lengths. The user can interface with the laser
system through controls provided on the front
panel of the C/PS module, enabling the laser
head to be remotely located.
The all-solid-state RF power supply, contained
within the C/PS module, can be operated either
in a CW mode or in an enhanced-pulse
modulated mode, allowing the user to obtain
higher peak-power performance. The system
also includes an integrated DC power supply,
allowing the EOM-10 to be operated from
standard 200 - 240 VAC input power.
The superior performance of the EOM-10 laser
is demonstrated in the high output per unit
volume obtained under technology protected
by Coherent-DEOS patents.

time. Coherent, Inc. also warrants to the original purchaser for a period of one

accident, abuse or operation in a manner inconsistent with the procedures
and specifications outlined in the manual supplied with the laser.
