Little settlement of this will have occurred during Sunday on shady aspects due to cool air temperatures, Further snow is forecasted for Monday associated with strong NW winds Any activity is expected to be small and isolated to below ridge crest and cornice development above 1600m. Westerly aspects have the least snow cover. The last significant storm produced 85 cm of new snow down to low elevation associated with very strong westerly quarter winds. Rain has since occurred to high elevations and the majority of the snow snow pack is now wet grains(or a spring snow pack) that refreezes at night. Night time freezes have been marginal. Significant glide cracks are developing down to ground at lower elevations on eastern aspects. The upper snow pack has now been refrozen and 15 cm of new snow has fallen. Wind at 1000 metres: Northerlies, gusting 80 km/h in exposed places, easing in the afternoon. Wind at 2000 metres: Northwest, rising to severe gale 80 km/h early morning, then gradually easing to 50 km/h in the afternoon and evening. Free air freezing Level: Rising to 1900 metres.
