Salamanca is a small, ancient city in northwestern Spain (about 120 miles from Madrid). This area is the birthplace of the “purest” Spanish (Castilian) language, backed by the Royal Spanish Academy. The oldest university (1218) in Spain is found in Salamanca. It was also the place where the most relevant Spanish writers and intellectuals studied. For two weeks, students at HACC, Central Pennsylvania’s Community College, will attend language classes four hours a day (Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.) to learn the language, history and culture of Spain. The program will include pre-travel, online sessions via D2L to start your Spanish learning. By learning a foreign language, students will become more marketable in their profession – all the while expanding their global horizons.
