Last fall alumni, aro·nsed J,ecausc:- of the m·g·ent need . f)f their .Alma ::\later, deter11tine<l to bring
relief an£t make a greater Wake .F orest. As tbe .Alnuuti News goes to press, announcement is made
of the resignation of President Gaines. Word also comes tltat the General Board of the Baptist
State Comeution will be caned to meet early in Jliarch to redse budgets dra.stica.lly. In face
of Illan tO" raise funds, the Pre ident's re ·ignation appears serious. The meeting of the Gene1·aJ
Board pre ents t>roblem directly and indirectly ·r ital to Wake Fo-rest, since the Board may be
asked to discontinue as istauce to young :tU inisters and eliminate the a.Jlocation of $4,000 to Wake
Forest for cun-ent expenses.
The work of raising funds for new building·s is in the ltaud of a competent committee o-f
alumni, trustees, and faculty. There wiU be no 11esit'ation or retreat. In the present emergency,
however, let eve1·y alumus become doubly Joyal to his Alma 1\Iater.
