Reading: We will be working on being able to identify
the main idea and details in a story. We are also

understanding addition and subtraction. Then we will
be working on addition fact strategies and
properties of addition.
Science: We will be discussing living things and
focusing on comparing life in different habitats.
Social Studies: We will be practicing different roles
and responsibilities within our school community,
home, community, and country.
Home-School Connection
Use 20 small objects such as pennies or buttons. Try to
make a doubles fact, 5+5 and ask them what the sum is.
Then try the doubles plus one fact, 5+6 and see the
sum. Repeat with facts 1+1 to 10+10 and see if your
child can find a pattern with the sum.

Our class got the most high-fives in
the school for August! We get to
