INSTRUCTION MANUAL Heating element for liquid heating

INSTRUCTION MANUAL
Heating element for liquid heating reversible fuse
Heating element is designed for direct liquid heating in households and industrial applications, for ex.
heating boilers, hot water tanks, water preheaters or through-flow water heaters. The body must be
immersed all the way up to the head during all operations. Suitable for operations, where it is neccessary
to have a reversible fuse beyond regulation.
Rod heating elements have good thermo-technical, electrical and mechanical characteristics. The
heating elements consists of two parts –a heating part and a terminal board.
Heating part consists of three heating rods made of brass or high-grade steel (∅ 8,5 mm; stainless steel
17 248 / INCOLOY 800) with highly compacted insulation material. Heating coil is heat-sealed in the
insulation. All materials used ensure maximum anti-corrosive protection. U-shaped heating rods are
attached to the head by thread M48x2 or G1½“.
The terminal board is made as a aluminium casting with IP 54. Reversible thermal fuse protecting
from overheating and a glow tube indicating the state (heating/not heating) is part of the packing. The
electric circuit is disconnected if the temperature of sensor surrounding reaches a value, previously set by
the manufacturer. Re-connection may be done mechanically only – by pressing the button on the body of
the switch after the sensor has cooled down.
Heating elements can be easily installed using the head with thread M48x2 or G1½“. Electric input is
possible from both sides through OBO-VTEC bushing.
Electric part connection: Electric inputs are connected directly to the terminals of the fuse, not to the
heating rods. Heating element must be earthed according to relevant standards. The desired temperature is
set by a regulatory knob and the glow tube is indicating the status – heating or not.
Screwed heating element must be installed by a qualified person, which ensures compliance with relevant
standards and regulations. The user is obliged to check the function of a new device.

In the following table there are recommended powers according to relevant liquid volumes. Mentioned
amounts should be taken as the minimum. Exceptions are optional in dependence on use. The whole body
must be immersed in the relevent amount of liquid.

CAUTION!!!
After installation, the fuse becomes a sufficient protection against exessive temperature, for example if
the heating element gets dry. Thermal fuse however does not prevent form dry operation. For these
reasons it is neccessary to install other protection systems, for example liquid level regulation.
Safety:
•
Safety valves must be installed in a way, so that the pressure in the tank never exceeds the
nominal value by more than 1 bar.
•
In case of enclosed water heating it is essential to abide by the arrangement of fittings and
protection devices.
•
In opened water tank there must be bleeds arranged in a way, that the pressure in the tank
never exceeds the nominal pressure.
•
Installation in horizontal position.
•
During the installation it is neccessary to disconnect each pole from the grid by opening the
contacts at least by 3 mm for one pole. That can be done by use of an electric switch.
•
Before the first switch-on, make sure there is water or other liquid in the tank.
•
Heating element must be always immersed in a liquid.
•
Screwed heating element has a proved resistance up to 10 bar static pressure.
