The state associations of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, and North Carolina made up the division. In 1970, the state associations of South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia were added to the Division roster, while Louisiana was moved to South Central Division. This realignment brought the number of Southern Division state associations to nine, its current arrangement.
